people says extreme CPUs is waste?

it does not show something about 3930k or 4770k but the 3960x dissepointed me:D

3930k will perform about the same as the 3960x and the 4770k will perform better than the 3770k.

Well, other than the Intel rig in my sig, I do have an FX8350 clocked @4.5ghz, and I use both for gaming as well as media re-encoding.....it's great to see all 6core/12threads on the 3960X and all 8 cores on my FX revving up when I re-encode media (basically ripping movies into HD H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video, and both are pretty fast at that, Oh yes, having a pair of GTX670 in SLi on my FX rig does help it handle games and media encoding. For gaming, when the game allows for it, that is more cores/threads, these badboys do pretty well. If not, I usually have my 3960X @4.5ghz as well, and at that speed, it, with my cards, destroy every game at 1080P, and do a vast majority of game at max setting in surround mode as well.

Bear in mind, the rig in my sig is about 18 months old now, and it is still a great gaming and encoding system. Neither has let me down in any of the games I've played on them.

Get Extreme edition if you do heavy editing and heavy rendering.

If all you do is gaming i doubt it will worth the money.

Better save 300-500 euro of your money and get 3770K or 4770K. So you can upgrade your CPU and MB in the future.

*remembering that DDR4 is only a few years away.

MB :MSI Z77a G45 | Proc: I5 3570K (Stock) | HSF : CM 212X turbo | RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2X4GB) | VGA : MSI GTX 660 Twin Frozr | PSU : Corsair GS600 | Case : CM Storm Enforcer | Storage :  OCZ Vector 128GB, WD Blue 500GB , Samsung 840 Evo 120GB, WD Blue 1TB

if games start to use more threads like they will do then a 3930k will be a lot faster if they use more than 8 threads also if you you do any rendering or encoding then the 3930k will destroy a 4770k.

yes. even i tell this to people. ITS A WASTE .

but only if you are gaming....

why ? an i5 performs better/equal in games.and when games will seriously start using more cores,an i5 will get the boost too.couse it ain`t stressed at all. look at that amd marketing,8 cores cpu ... in crysis 3 you get like what? 2 - 3 fps more than an i5.4 cores more and you get 2 fps .thats like ... wooooooowww

those cpu`s are for people who actually work with them. ofc you can game with it,but you don`t buy a tank to kill a squirrel.as for those mobos...overclock comes to my mind, not gaming.couse those are unlocked cpus, otherwise just get a six core sandy bridge xeon.its the same thing at stock

What website do you use may I ask so I can see the price break up.

Also if you can work it why not get an i5 with a slightly cheaper mobo to squeeze in a second 780 if possible? More graphics will always trump cpu (within reason).

The Extreme series of processors from Intel are designed for heavy use case scenarios which require multiple, hyperthreaded cores to spread the workload evenly and efficiently. A 3930K for example would only use 3 of it's six cores effectively, with 4 at the most. For your needs you would be better suited to say an i5 4670K or an i7 4770K which both give overclocking headroom and are more suited to gaming that a 3930K, which is designed for a workstation environment. If you intend to edit videos, work with 3D or any CPU intensive program go with the 4770K, however if you solely want it for gaming, go for the i5 4670K and spend the remaining money on either a better GPU or some games to play when you have finished your build.

You should change the PSU. You won't need that much W, so you'll be wasting energy and build up more heat (unless you're planning to tri-sli the GTX780 or something).

Use this to figure out what's best for your setup:

I say go for it, because you seem to really want the 3930K, and it sounds a lot cooler having an extreme edition chip than just a mainstream chip.

Also the 2011 board is about AUD$200 less than the 1150 board (~1200SEK) so IMO that means your trying to justify the 2011 system over 1150 :P

Go with 2011 because it's different and a more well rounded CPU than the 1150 is. Oh and the mobo is better in 2011 for multi-GPU (i.e. it will be x16 if 2 slots are populated but x16/x8 in 1150)

With the way power jumps are going in 5-6 years the top CPU will probably only be 30-40% better than the top now.

You could get the price of the 4770k system lower if you didn't spec in a $500 motherboard.... The G1 Sniper is a total waste imo.
