Acer Predator Z35: Curved 35" 21:9 (Probably 3440x1440) Monitor with G-Sync and a 144Hz VA Panel

BiG StroOnZ

As you all remember from the epic last thread about the Acer Predator XR341CK 21:9 3440x1440 IPS, it turned out to not be an AHVA-IPS panel which means it wouldn't have a 144Hz refresh rate, but instead a max refresh rate of 75Hz (since it's a true IPS panel). Although still carrying G-Sync, 3440x1440 resolution, and an IPS panel. This turned out to be disappointing for many people and of course a deal breaker. However there were rumors of an Acer Predator 21:9 35" that had a 144Hz refresh rate, and that monitor has finally surfaced:

The last product in Acer's new gaming lineup is a 35-inch curved monitor with G-Sync called the Predator Z35. It features a 21:9 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Sound is provided by nine 9W speakers. The rear contains a multitude of inputs, including four USB 3.0 ports, an optical digital audio port, one USB 2.0 port, LAN, two HDMI ports (one with MHL), and a DisplayPort In and DisplayPort out.

The monitor is the first of the Predator series to hit the market, which will be sometime in Q2. The tablet is up next in Q3, along with the Predator desktop PC. The laptops will be the last ones to come out, with a release date in Q4.

Unfortunately, there aren't many details yet about any of the products, other than the Z35. They were all mock-ups of the finalized design, but Acer will reveal more detailed specs and pricing during Computex later this year. (And yes, you can bet that we'll be there.)

Source 2: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/acer-unveils-predator-gaming-series,28986.html

Now let's attack the rumor side of this monitor. The rumors are that this version will be a VA panel (Vertical Alignment), they are like a balance between features of a TN and IPS. It will definitely be 35", and boast a 21:9 aspect ratio while sporting a 144Hz refresh rate. The rumor side is that it will also be a 3440x1440 resolution like XR341CK however that hasn't been confirmed and the only source that states this is Gibbo at overclockers.co.uk. Where he then precedes to say that resolution has yet to be confirmed, and as we can see from the press release of the product they haven't stated a resolution yet either. But it's supposed to be featured at Comuptex so we will know for sure in like a month and I will update this thread when that information releases. But I imagine at 35" and 21:9 they can not be thinking of making this a 2560x1080, I feel like they might have an option for that but just by judging the pictures on the construct of the monitor it looks like a really nice piece of hardware. Almost like a flagship product. I couldn't see them making a flagship monitor of theirs as a 2560x1080, so I feel it will have to be 3440x1440.

Looks awful. I wouldn't want that sitting on my desk.

But that said the specs are something I want, being able to watch 3D movies without black lines!

yeah the red and the sharp angles on the stand look stupid as hell but id still rather take it over the LG one with the utter crap stand.

agree...

and the red is on the back of the monitor, while the front looks clean, so I think it is ok...

man if this is a 144hz 3440x1440 and comes in under 800... I would love it if they had a gsync free model just to hit that price point. I'm sure gsync is nice and all but not worth the 200$ price premium it adds to monitors.

I know I'm dreaming but I can hold out longer since I already have a nice 27" 1440p monitor.

Under 800$...Thats not going to happen

Dell's has a great stand if you don't need the high refresh rate.

this kind of response really makes my eyes roll. Thats a normal size logo for the company that made it for you. It takes up 5% of the bezel lol. but who cares, dont buy one then.

The 75hz XR341ck is already 900 pounds for freesync, this isn't going to be under 800 dollars

Man that thing is vulgar and ugly looking. Why does gaming stuff have to look like Klingon weapons? The 12 year olds, who thinks, that looks good, cannot afford it anyways.

I like their 34" XR341CK a lot better:

I agree.  Personally I just can't wait for the freesync version of that monitor.  75hz is perfectly fine if I get freesync and essentially a 3k resolution.   :D

VA actualy trade blows with IPS. It has awesome black, sligthly worse colors but not a big deal for gaming monitor. It also doesent shift colors like TN but it is more like IPS.

Why. when the 34" is 75hz and IPS?

I havent seen a VA. Can you answer me something?

Does it have the viewing angle and color shifts that TN has?

Because just washed out colors i can deal with.... if worse colors was the only problem of TN, we`d all be sitting on TN.

No, it has no color shift like TN. VA is IPS with slightly worse colors but a lot better black. Viewing angles are like on IPS.

According to other 34" models measurement (830x370mm), this is more like tow 19" 4:3 monitors side by side or even a little bigger
