1600p/1440p

Lays

I may sell my 3 monitors and buy 1 or 2 1440/1600p monitors, can people suggest what's good? I have no idea about 1600/1440p monitors or what I should pay for them, they are extremely expensive from what I've seen and I'm unsure if there's a tangible benefit.

The monitors i have ATM are in my sig.

I was going to link you the one that Paul got but it's actually more expensive than the Asus I recommended.

Unfortunately I'm not to sure which one of the 1600p monitors are worth buying and also a lot of them are around $550-$600. And yes 5120x1440 is higher resolution.

I went with a used HP lp3065.

I bought it right before all the talk of the cheapo Korean panels.

it's been fantastic so far, no problems to report other than school computers are almost unusable now.

Will work for electronic components and parts

You pay a low price for a 1440p IPS panel, but the tradeoff is you get practically nothing else besides the panel.  Simple non-adjustable stand, cheap casing, often glossy, very limited inputs, no color or contrast control, no OSD, no USB hubs, effectively no warranty (even if they have one, it costs a fortune to ship back to Korea... enough that it ends up costing the same or more as a much superior Dell or ASUS monitor).

Completely agreed. You're better off buying a good 30in Dell or the Asus one. It'll cost more, but you'll have support if anything goes wrong.

green-sum offers a one year warranty I believe.

I don't know, I'm very happy with my Catleap 2B monitor I bought. The stand sucks but the image quality is fantastic!

Even if they offer a warranty you need to take it with a grain of salt.  None of them pay for return shipping, and how much do you think it costs to ship back a 27" monitor in a single parcel internationally to the other side of the world for warranty service?

That's why u get a $40 squaretrade warranty when you get monitor.. Covers your monitor for 3 years and if they can't fix it you get a FULL refund..And more inputs equals more input lag so that's not a good thing if you wanna game on it..And if bought in the US There is now a company who will pay for return shipping and cover monitor for 3 years including any dead pixels you might get. So even if you buy a Korean with the warranty you are still around $300 cheaper then the competition which could buy a nice GPU.. :)

Yep, you can't go wrong with that.

Plus, for $300+ if the thing breaks then buy a new one. If I got 1-2 years of use out of it for that price I'd be more then happy. I've bought regular 1080p monitors that cost around the same price and I've had them die on me in less then a year. Warranties are only good if a company actually honors them. Most of the time they require paying for shipping to them and then you have to wait weeks for something to happen. I usually replace the monitor within the same day if it breaks so warranties do me no good.

I already have 2 780's, but the thing is.. If I buy the asus ones @mrenusso I can only get 1 monitor, as opposed to 2 of the korean ones for the same price.   If I sell my monitors for ~220$ each I'll only have 600-660$ USD to spend.

For that much money I'd get the 120Hz 1440p monitor. You already have the GPU horsepower to drive it!

Well I use all 3 of my screens with the 5760x1080 resolution and I love the amount of desktop space I can multitask with, so going down to 2560x1440 would suck unless I had 2 monitors :S
