Why isn't there a 3d Printing Subform Page?

I have a 3d printer and often have questions, so I go to forms but LTT form is my favorite form because its so active. I would like to know why isn't there a 3d printing page or if they could add one in the future. As Linus said it will be the future. so why not add a subform page? There is a subform page for every other respect tech.

do you mean a subforum? because if you mean a topic, you can make it yourself...

we cant have a subforum for every device, and since this forum is centered around PCs you will need to look on a 3d printing forum to find what you want, or make your own topic in "general" or "off topic"

While it would be nice I think going to a 3d printing forum would yield better results.

Yes I meant subforms I understand but there aren't any good ones (forms). Linus Media Group made a subform  for everything so why not 3d printing, its getting more and more common and its important tech now.

I'd say that 3d printing should have its own sub-topic.

This is LinusTECHTips, not LinusPCTips. :P

ltt has subforums for computer parts and mobile and home theatre...

there cant be a subforum for every single device like cars, printers, faxes, routers, cables, etc...

There are subforums for Console Gaming, Photo/Video, Mobile Gaming, Home Theater and Mobile Devices though, which don't necessarily have anything to do with computers on the surface but do when you look into it. 3D printing is a future endeavor for a lot of users, they need to know what they're doing right and what they're doing wrong, but a specialized forum for that in itself exists and is better. I don't care either way, but 3D printing has just as much to do with computers as Home Theater does, and in fact more since you need a computer to build 3D models and even print IIRC.

We don't currently because so far, there's isn't enough content for it, and having loads of different subforums for all sorts of different niches isn't really what we want. Feel free to post 3D printing threads in general discussion, but at the moment we're not planning to make a subforum for it.

Ps. In future, please post things like this in the forum suggestions thread (linked in my signature).

There is a reason its called LinusTechTips and now you mention it maybe they should have one for miscellaneous tech "like cars, printers, faxes, routers, cables, etc..." but I still think if there is a subform for Star Citizen ( Best Game Ever xD ) there could be one for 3d printing or just add it to the miscellaneous section.

Since I already polluted the general discussion with this topic I will just ask it here. Why not just add a miscellaneous subform for things "like cars, printers, faxes, routers, cables, etc...". There are a bunch of people with need help with those things too.

Because that's what General Discussion is for - miscellaneous tech discussion.

Apparently it's already a sticky. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/86769-3d-printing-models-tutorials-and-discussion/

There are no threads about any of them in there at the moment because we get barely any content for any of those topics (except routers, which go in the Networking subforum). If you did want to post a thread about printers, it would probably go in Peripherals, though we don't get many of them.

If you did want to post about fax machines, you could do so in General Discussion, but for obvious reasons people don't post about them very often.

there are two views to this imo

view one (from the perspective of one who cares not for 3D Printing)

"no not enough people have them no one cares about them why dont ya just go and 3D print deez nuts bud cya"

then, perspective two

"yeh, theyre cool and members here actually do use them and would like to share with others"

im on team two, i think there should be a subforum for it cuz like i said, if i had one, and i used it frequently i would love to share my creations :P

I'm in the sort of halfy half field. 3d Printing is still incredibly expensive and not many have them so content would be.... sparse in its own subsection, but it would also be cool to see some of the weird and wacky projects you guys get up to.

So maybe have a sticky for it now if its popular enough, and if it proves to be explosive popular then maybe think about a subsection.

I had 3 3d printers they can get expensive but I moved up, I had a 60,300, and now a 500 dollar 3d printer.

Okay but I am just saying there is a topic for everything else, just think of the lonely old pagers, fax machines, and Nokias that just want to be loved...........in a miscellaneous subform.
