YouTube videos wont play on PC

MemeMaster

Hello,

I can't play videos on my PC for some reason.

I can play them on my phone, but not my PC.

I cleared all my cookies and history just 4 days ago.

I am using Chrome and get 15mbps average on speedtest.

Thanks to anyone that can help,

- Meme :)

( PS  - It's not just youtube videos )

Update Chrome?

Do you mean the YT page loads, but the video won't show up?

Try reinstalling, and make sure to check 'remove data' or whatever when uninstalling to fully clear Chrome's hidden files.

No, Chrome has built-in flash that's kept up-to-date.

Don't worry, I'm with you. Safari is simply the best browser available, but sadly it's not on Windows anymore...

  • 3 weeks later...

Little late but I had the same problems,
I just updated my drivers and that got it working again.

Please tell me you're being sarcastic.

@op: reach out to google/YouTube support. They're good at figuring it out.

I have an opinion, and it's perfectly valid - check out some benchmarks.

You mean these benchmarks?

And on top of that... the numerous security issues and the fact that the browser is just historically unreliable. There's a reason Safari has less than 3% of the market share, even though Mac OS X has a large share in the OS market.

I'm not saying you don't have a right to your opinion, I'm just saying it's based on something that's not fact.

But I digress. That isn't the point of the thread.

Safari 8 (which isn't the one tested - those are from 2014) is improved further upon that, and on OS X it consistently uses about half the RAM and 75% of the CPU usage of Chrome and Firefox. It's impressive.

It might be second or third in Js benchmarks, but by no means is it 'slow,' and it's a much more efficient application in general. The UI is cleaner and the layout is more intuitive and less in-the-way.

EDIT - not to mention the more recent HTML5 tech improvements made it the only other browser than Chrome that supported 60fps YouTube. Not sure if that's the case anymore.
