The LTT Build-Off Thread! (No Building Required)

The next build will definitely be a "budget" build, but I hadn't thought about the specific details. I can definitely do this for the next contest.

ok can't wait for the next competition

has the voting started? for the music creation theme build

after the budget builds

can we do the parts theme builds based on the recent release of the GTX970 and GTX980 along with the Acer 4K G-Sync monitor?

the theme will be G-Sync enabled build so the parts will have to include Geforce GPUs and a G-Sync monitor

give a bit of leeway for the budget since we know the G-Sync monitor are still kinda expensive and the 980 is like 500+ per GPU

but will test to see how the ppl will manage the G-Sync build with a determined budget

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Status of Contest 55:

Sorry for not putting up a poll, everyone. Yom Kippur started Friday night, and I didn't go on my computer until Sunday, and then I had to work all day. By that point I decided to just wait and give everyone a full week to vote and get back on schedule. Updated dates are in the OP.

I know this sounds like a lot of excuses, which it is, but I'm incredibly busy this year (I really shouldn't be on the forum right now  :P). Please bear with me for any delays or adjustments to contests. Thank you!

while waiting for the next build challange

I was suggesting another of my idea

the challenge is beat the "Pre-built Desktops"

The challenge involves building a desktop PC that matches the price of a assigned Pre Build PC.

You may use similar parts as the pre build or you can make a better version of the based on the given price of the Pre Build PC

http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-area51-r2/pd?ref=PD_OC

http://www.asus.com/sg/ROG_ROG/G70AB/

the new Area 51 Ailenware has a darn weird design o.0

look like a 3 sided shaped chassis

Wait, why Asus? Why not like HP or Gateway or some other crap?

Well Asus almost got the gaming pc right but the parts are still not ROG grade. Ailenware is one horrible example of a gaming pc with crappy parts at crazy price.

The idea is to select one pc for the challenge and we have the choice to better the price or build a better pc.

I believe @ddbtkd456 has left, so unfortunately, no prize.

Or that I think he left, is from what I heard.

I just thought f another build theme.

I call it AMD FX "The Final Fantasy"

The AM3+ platform has finally reached the end of it life as one of the mid tier desktop for gamers. Intel has captured the mid to high end pc market. And Intel cpu performance has made the 8 core less appealing along with the lack of technologies that is found on Intel boards like PCI-E 3.0, USB 3.0, mSATA. The mentioned features are only supported by 3rd party chipsets which are found on high end mobos.

The architecture used on the FX now have been surpassed by the smaller but newer quad core Athlon x4 860k in which the latter beating the FX 8 core in terms of raw processing power for multi treaded and single treaded applications per clockspeed.

The aim is to build the best possible AMD pc with as much AMD parts based on the given budget.

This will be the final send off for the AM3+ platform.
