Experiences with non-techies

Generalizations on Most mechanical drives start around 130mb/s at the start of the drive, and lose performance onwards, down to around 80mb/s by the end of the drive.

Not including fragmentation, or any other technologies making it better...

So filling it up "would make it slower"...

But at any enthusiast level, measures are taken so it never gets that bad...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

My dad's friend, (Who is super techie by the way, he bought a galaxy beam in china, he makes all sorts of electronics things on pcbs) said the PS4 was going to run games in 4K... I was bashing him with arguments why it could only do it for movies but he wouldn't listen... He probably read an article on some trash website...

I served an older man today who was not getting his emails. He was running his internet connection of a data stick. He informed me he had to have settings changed because he was overseas for the last 4 months. So I got to work checking his email settings. I changed his servers and checked the ports.

Still didnt work so I checked for alternate ports and tried those. Still not working, So I checked what the error code Windows Live Email was giving. Aparently it was common for this error to occur when an antivirus is scanning the emails. So I tracked down what his antivirus is and added Windows Live Email to the exceptions list. Nope. Still a no go.

So I check his data stick to make sure its got our sim in it. It did so I checked his connection managers APN, That was fine too.

Now I check to see if his sim is evrn still connected. Yup, Still is.

So now im totaly confused. I go last resort and load up a Telecom page, Which is always acesable on a Telecom sim provided its actually connecting to the internet. It loads the page.

On the inside I rage a little bit at myself, The data stick has no credit on it. Even though I still had to change the email server I spent around 30 minutes pissing around with other more compicated shit. Total waste of time.

The moral of the story: Have no faith in anyone who comes into my store with a problem. Start from the very begining.

so this one time I was hanging out with my friend who is the manager at a tech shop by where I live and a girl comes in and buys a 2tb hard drive. we let her know that we install hard drives for $1 (the cost of the sata cable we use) and she says "just because I am a woman does not mean I cant work on computers" and leaves in a huff. two days later she comes back in saying that the HDD is not working so we take the computer in to look at it, we open it and the HDD is nowhere to be seen, so we ask her where it is. and it turns out that she scanned it and put the scanned image on her desktop to install the drive. and to top that off she threw away the drive she paid almost $200 for and she wanted us to give her a new one.

Lol what did you do?

Just to see if I might learn something, what would those measures be?

Due to the size if this thread we could actually make this a standalone subforum...

It got almost as many replies as the Subforum for mobile gaming...

When I walked into an Apple Premium Reseller with my mate because he needs an iPhone waterproof case (??? Dafaq ???) I asked the employee if they have the new MBA together with the new AirPort Extreme so I could experience the 802.11AC.

He says: "oh yeah AC indeed the battery life is significantly improved."

"Genius Bar"

Lol...

To my good friends, I am God of computing.

My friend's mom actually paid me 50 bucks to fix their loose cable, thrice.

Many don't believe me when I told them I built a PC.

I should never have mentioned the term 'hardware porn' among them.

Some think I have no life and no future.

To most adults, I am a spoilt brat.

I know dem feels bro.

I've been told more than once that someone needs more 'rams' in their computer (I build a lot of computers for friends, family, etc), every time I hear this I get a facial tick... drives me nuts.

My mother once told me that see would get the iPhone 5 since it got 64 GB of RAM and 1 GB of storage...

She had also heard that RAM was good to have in plenty and you didn´t need much storage sooo...
