Thanks for shedding light upon the matter. I agree, my 4th gen Intel chip does reasonably well in what i do, but I'm not into gaming tough, so i don't know what 3 years of aging can do to a gaming pc.

I have a 4 year old i5, doesn't really hold me back from normal gaming.

I definitely feel it editing/rendering though.
The video card is only 2 years old though. (1060 6Gb)

My father has a very high opinion of an electrician and praises him all the time for his knowledge and skill. He ignores the fact that he regularly screws up which leads to my father paying to solve his screw ups.

My father asked this guy to have a look at my sisters PC because she wants to connect it with her old TV through HDMI. The problem is that her new RX480 has HDMI 2.0 output and it only shows a black screen when connected with the TV because it has only HDMI 1.4. The electrician recommended that my sister swaps the power supply and replaces the GPU with a gtx 1050ti. She would have to pay a total of 210 € for having worse gaming performance and still having the same issue since the power supply is already good enough and the gtx 1050ti having also HDMI 2.0 output. I was honestly speechless but my fathers opinion of this guy hasn't changed one bit. 😤

How did I solve it?

My sister connected the HDMI cable the HDMI port on the motherboard. It however has to be connected with the HDMI port on the graphics card

The electrician should be a techie but I think he qualifies as non techie for this thread.

Check windows display settings to make sure her GPU isn't trying to push HDR to the TV if it's not an HDR compatible TV. I had a similar issue with my TV connected over a Displayport to HDMI adapter (My guess is the EDID profile got thrown off and my GPU thought it was an HDR compatible TV).

Checking your HDR settings and making sure it's off can help. Also see if the GPU is sending an out of range signal to the TV. I've seen that cause a black screen as well.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

I initially wrote the sentence because I think anybody with knowledge could have seen that the cable was connected to the wrong port.

Dad- Is the internet working?

Me- Yes

Me- what’s the issue

Dad- My HDMI has not signal and I’m trying to watch prime.
Me- HDMI has nothing to do with the internet. (Face palms hard on the inside).

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

My most horrible experience was with 80 years old lady (my neighbour and ex-teacher in kindergarten) who suddenly decided to learn computers. She asked me questions like this: "How many times do I need to click mouse? And how do I know when I need to click right or left mouse button?".... She didn't know anything! I tried to explain as easy as I could, but she drove me crazy 🤪 and I gave up.

At least she seemed to be asking the right questions instead of just going off on her own and getting angry at you about it.

My biggest tip is to always download the data for the area you are going to before the trip, this saves issues with signal too!

Jesus people with no smartphones in 2020.

College I work at has a QR code system or online (if your phone is too old for QR) for Covid. Seeing people in their late 20s with no means to complete the form except by paper, which wastes us so much time since it's manual data entry.

How does that even work ? 14 to 35 year olds is the biggest demographic were basically everyone has a Smartphone. Must either be disabled people (nothing against them) or those who are simply too poor to afford one.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

Him: No says check availability.

Me: ok...well usually if in stock, it's pre-order available.

Him: Takes Thursday off to sit in front of best buy to get disappointed.

Me: Got a good laugh XD

Or the elderly where they just need a phone to call people. They would probably be more familiar with how to use a feature phone instead of the fancy touchscreen interface of most smartphones. Remember, these are the people who would be the most resistant to change.

Why?

Does it have less impact on Wi-Fi signals, or is it just a great vacuum cleaner?

It's a joke because Hoover is a brand name of vacuum cleaner like Dyson is.

Nah see. The moose gets the cookies from the Keebler elves and brings it to me. In return I get cookie crumbs to vacuum to the cloud. Apple does some weird compression stuff. Something about a zip, but my zipper is always up. Moose double checks that for me. Then I get full cookies to sell!
