Can i get an honorary?

GTX480 sli (best type of sli)

not so much a case of "did run" as can run, i still have them but they (are 480's) are too loud, too hot and dont perform as aswell as my 290 though soon they will be in my rig again while im doing an all out folding at home day as they are in my rig, my 290 is in my missus' rig, r9-270 in my itx lan pc, gt220 in spare, gtx460se in rig im borrowing and im getting them to burn for 2-3 days to see what PPD i could get.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

you just have a ton of GPUs laying around don't you??

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. i got my 980s up to 1620Mhz on boost once, but i haven't been able to get to 1500 base yet. i've gotten to 1447 so far, no over voltage.

I've exclusively ran SLI since 2011, when I built a PC with two GTX 580s. Since have replaced them with SLI 970s.

 

I think my bottom card is limiting my OC though. In SLI I lose stability after about 1496MHz, but if I have to turn SLI off for any reason my top GPU automatically clocks itself quite comfortably over 1500MHz.

you can un-tie the GPU clocks in precisionX and boost the top card higher than the bottom.

Yea, it's base, seems like i've been lucky, temps are not that bad actually

why does everyone think this? no. hell even the memory speeds can be different.

the only thing that is the same is that memory amount and usage.

Folding, sure. But most of my heavy GPU use is in games, and I've always found SLI to force the same clock speed there.

just ran heaven 4.0,

 

my GPU meter tool showed my clocks speeds the same, set to the 1291 (which is the boost core default)

my GPU meter showed separate base clocks of 1178 and 1355.

heaven showed separate clocks of 1447 and 1620 (boost 1 and boost 2)

 

i'm pretty sure they were running at separate clock speeds because i don't trust my widget 100%

I find Unigen's own clock speed meter unreliable. I wish I were getting the stable 1650MHz it's claiming, but Afterburner disagrees xD

I just played around in MSI Afterburner and I can't reproduce this. Whether the OC difference is small (only about 20MHz) or if one is running at stock, they always default to the lower clock speed of the two in game.

 

Although I did find out from this that I can get about 30 fps in Valley Benchmark with SLI off at 4K. xD

Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

In a few monthes, I think I'll become the first man to purposely  SLI two 960's.
