Can 670 SLI handle a 1440p 27'' monitor in the upcoming games?

REULINI

Hey guys. I'm going to buy a 1440p 27'' monitor and I would like to know if 670 SLI can handle it. The most heavy games I'll be playing are gta5, witcher3, bf4, star citizen and if possible in high settings. If both 670 can't handle it, what would you recommend? Thanks

If the game you're playing supports good SLI scaling and you're not buying a 144Hz/120Hz panel monitor you should be fine. When it comes to above 1080p panels you really need to be hoping for one powerful card over 2 less powerful cards as games without SLI support will have a hard time maintaining 60FPS (or 144 on other panels) off of just one weaker card.

Most games should be fine. You might have to adjust a few settings here and there.

If you're looking to upgrade; look at either a single 970, a single R9 290x, or a single GTX 980.

atm it would work but then you would run into Vram problems with 2GBs on anything above 1080p, I'd say try to sell your 670 for something like 150€ or a bit cheaper and get a gtx 970 or r9 290 (only if you have the appropriate psu and its at least 30 bucks cheaper than the cheapest gtx 970) or you wait till the gtx  960 4GB will come out

I will never understand why people would buy a 4GB GTX 960. It literally makes no sense.

The same way I will never understand people buying 32GB of RAM gaming PCs from Alienware/ASUS ROG with an i7-4790 and a GTX 750

I would recommend a R9 290. In the States they are frequently on sale for $250 on Newegg, but your mileage may vary by location. I supersample to 1440p in most games and get 60 fps, and also I play CSGO at 220fps at 3200x1800. 290 is the best value imho.

gtx 960 has similar performance to the gtx 670 he has and at higher res the 670 might be better. it stupid to buy a 960 4gb it doesn`t have the horsepower to use that amount

anyway if you own the cards go ahead and get the monitor, they will handle it just fine.however if you don`t, buy a single gtx 970.gtx 970 handles 1440p very good

Maybe wait to see the R390X? Coming soon.   We all hope.  If nothing looks promising 290X Vapor X yea.

Or if you have the cash, possibly look for a used 780 ti.

they arent worth it at all, the 4GB edition costs 50€ less than the 970, and the 970 is much faster. Actually isnt the 128bit Bus on a maxwell card equal to a 256bit bus on previous gen/AMd cards? Cuz I heard people saying that the gtx 960 could also be used for 1080p+ gaming

I used to run sli 760's (similar to your setup), and it handled most games with good sli scaling (cough, cough, watchdogs) perfectly fine at 1080p, and even if i still had them, they would most likely be fine on a 1440p panel.

Vram is less of a problem than most people make it out to be, as just bumping the textures down from ultra-uber high, will bring down the vram usage under 2gb.

The bigger problem is the sli scaling, as if it isnt good, you will be stuck using one card, and its what tempted me to move up to a single 780ti. Most of the games you talked about however either have, or will most likely have good scaling, and so its up to you, and how much money you have to upgrade...

Bottom line: Get the monitor, and test if its good or not. Those cards will most likely have no problems, as long as you set the texture res at a reasonable setting, but only testing will tell...

theyll be fine

and msi fanboy here (so overbuilt!) but the gigabyte and saphire tri-fan models are great too so long as you dont mind long cards (rather longer than tripple slot)
