How Is This Build? i5 4460- Gtx 960.

This makes no sense.  If the $50 motherboard performs the same as a $100 motherboard, then what is the problem?  How is unbalanced in any way?

Uhmm, I don't know how accurate the manufacturer's specs are but the Mushkin might be faster:

Mushkin ECO - 550MB/s / 530MB/s, sequential read / write - 86K IOP random write

Sandisk Ultra Plus - 530MB/s / 290MB/s, sequential read / write - 33K IOP random write

Motherboard part: mostly nice-to-haves.

I'll look up some UserBenchmark stats and report back.

EDIT: Mushkin is significantly faster at reading and a fair bit slower at writing. 4K benchmarks sit the Sandisk higher. I'm basing this off a Newegg Review and average UserBenchmark results (my own Ultra Plus included :D)

For the Mushkin

Sequential Read : 471.553 MB/s

Sequential Write : 170.583 MB/s

Random Read 512KB : 380.222 MB/s

Random Write 512KB : 147.956 MB/s

Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 21.878 MB/s [ 5341.3 IOPS]

Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 12.751 MB/s [ 3112.9 IOPS]

Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 68.573 MB/s [ 16741.3 IOPS]

Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 41.661 MB/s [ 10171.2 IOPS]

OK Mushkin is faster in this video. Random guy on Newegg had a slower drive.

Now back to the original question... Can this kid get a freakin' GTX 970 + an i5 in a $1050 (before rebates) build?   The answer better be yes... or I quit utterly defeated.

It is possible. But my question:

Does the OP like the case? Might want to switch back to the Corsair after thinking about it. Most people choose a case based on looks so maybe it's a good idea to put it back in the list.

If the OP wants to sacrifice performance for a "less-shitty" case (both are equally shitty, Spec-03 too), that is up to him.  We are here to help him get the best performance he can at his budget.

$5 says a GTX 960 will be selected over a 280X or 290 :(

Spec 03 is a fine case, pardon me. Friend and I built his system in one and I can't complain. I think it's ugly but it's his system and his choice.

I really hope the OP doesn't buy a 960 simply because it's the "Way it's mean to be played" but I suppose I can't stop him.

Crossed fingers for at least a 280X.

I gotta sleep so night y'all.

Congratulations

What's wrong with you?  Don't you ever get the feeling you said something you shouldn't?

Like with this gem maybe:

WTF is that?

Is the GTX 970 better than the R9 290 on a 1080p display?  Yes or no?

At 1080p are either of them going to struggle to get 60FPS? no.

The one that costs more... do you not get the point we're trying to get at here? 290 is still better price-to-performance then the 970.

So, you equate coil whine to the ACX cooler?  You are not too bright, huh?
