eyyy my longest friend came out to me as trans. Given their lack of subtly it wasn't surprising.

Well, they've been growing their hair out since 9th grade with the intent being to have it look feminine (they say this when asked by anyone btw) and have been crossdressing for about as long. They hate facial hair bcs of its masculine qualities. They also tend to talk about how much they prefer female clothing to male clothing. Least subtle MtF ever. 

 

They're an amazing person tho (a bit weird for most people) and I'm going to support everything they do.

I have a friend (trans) that was about as manly as one could get, hair, clothing, etc, but then bright pink phone. With a metro sexual male, I probably wouldn't have thought twice, but in this case, that one bit stuck out.

 

Personal Experience: I've always tended to suppress as much emotion as possible since I was about 8. I viewed those early on as female traits I needed to distance myself from. Same with pain (physical and emotional), resulting in a severe abscessed tooth at one point due to a prior injury I concealed from the parents. I was about 11 at the time. Thus, I tended to view myself as quite subtle, at worst, viewed as a bit masochist.

 

I'm fairly certain at least one or two friends have some idea about me though, as they thought it peculiar that conversing with me felt much like chatting with another girlfriend.

Good luck. Blue hair dye is a bitch to work with if you don't have blond hair. 

And even then it tends to fade rather quickly.
