Hardline Water Cooled PC Build Log

nicklmg

While normally 4k would be preferable to 60fps, there was a TON of screen tearing for me while watching this due to the quick panning shots.

Hi,

I built my computer about three months ago and I believe I may had made an error somewhere. Just to clear up; the computer works just fine. It boot up, go to windows and all. However, when ever I boot up the computer, there are about 15 seconds of dead gap between the moment I switch on the computer until my main screen turns on to ASUS logo. Also, after windows interface shows up (the desktop), there are about 10 seconds of delay until all the "Startup" applications kicks in. During those 10 sec, I can run google chrome, as an example, without any problems. Nevertheless, I know for sure that the computer is still not ready. After those 10 sec, all of the Startup applications will start working together at once without any kind of delay. Sometimes, I will have this problem where the desktop shortcuts icons won't display for about the same.

Comparing to Z97 with i7-4790k, my x99 with i7-5930k is way slower in terms of booting up.

My setup:

ASUS ATX DDR4 3000 (O.C.) Motherboard X99-DELUXE

Intel Core i7-5930K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.5GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W Desktop Processor BX80648I75930K

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4 2800MHz (PC4 2800) C16 memory kit for DDR4 Systems - Blue (CMK16GX4M4A2800C16B)

ASUS Graphics Cards STRIX-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD5 1x

Corsair Hydro Series H105 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler CW-9060016-WW

Samsung 850 Pro 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-7KE256BW)

Corsair RM Series 1000 Watt ATX/EPS 80PLUS Gold-Certified Power Supply - CP-9020062-NA RM1000

WD Black 1TB Performance Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5-inch, SATA 6 Gb/s, 7200 RPM, 64MB Cache WD1003FZEX

Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit

Note: I tried taking of the 1TB hdd out of the system but nothing changed.

BIOS: I update BIOS to 1502.

Question: Is this normal?

HELP!!

Is the top rad fans blowing into the case and the bottom also blowing into (so downwards airflow) the case too?

If not (and I am guilty of this on my Enthoo Primo atm) the hot air goes from the bottom rad and through into the top rad before going out of the top of the case making the bottom rand kinda useless.

It's all about the watercooling baby.
