1440p or wait for 4k

Bussinateur

Should I get a 1440p display now, or wait for 4K to mature and buy one later on.

I will be upgrading my GPU to a 390 when it comes out probably

Since it seems a lot of the 300 series are rebadges, and we dont know how powerful the 390x will be I still think its too early for 4k

even 2x 980s or not enough

My vote is get the new 1440p 144hz IPS Gsync/Freesync displays :)

You'd still be looking at TITAN X like performance, which isn't enough on it's own for 60+ fps on triple A titles. 1440p is the sweet spot without using scaling. You can make the argument to "wait" for any aspect of the technology industry, but it moves at such a pace that it's a futile argument to make. Get what you can afford to drive properly now is my advice.

i say go 4k :) yes the horse power isn't there now but nor is it really there to drive 1440p 144hz displays to their full potential. a monitor is something you keep through several pc builds. investing in a decent 4k monitor now and reap the rewards later. instead of settling for a 1440p and getting a bit pig sick when every man and his dog has 4k not so long down the line.

WAIT UNTIL YOU GET THE TITAN X!!!!! Then you can do 4k, it's currently the only single gpu that can run most games on ultra in 4k at 40fps. Fastest gpu in the world. Only $1000

Well, 4k is a good choice if you're looking for alot of screen real estate for working on stuff. If gaming, i'd go for the 1440p, which also gives some screen real estate.

Is the picture quality difference big between 1440p and 4K.

Would it be bigger than 1080p vs 1440p?

Yes but I chose 1440p because the GPU's don't meet my fps standrads for 4k.

I am super happy with my Samsung 4K Monitor. Yes my gtx 980 never hits 60 fps in AAA titles on ultra+AA on. But without AA the fps are sitting in the high 50 wich is enough for me. Also i use the monitor without scaling and i love it. Text is small but sharp. I think that there is no need vor 1440p any more.

a manual including stheee German  :D
