I would really like to win this mainly because I have a friend that could really use one of the scrapyard computers and the graphics card soon. It would also be awesome to win this as I am having serious problems with my laptop crashing badly now as the company I bought it from say it's software but its clearly not! Oh well.

Thx so much for reading this if you have!

Videos I've enjoyed in my time on Vessel:

  1. SLI Titan X 5k Benchmarks: this ironically was the first video I viewed on vessel, but it was one I was anxious to see. Although it was awesome to see 5k benchmarks and all, as an owner of a 4k monitor I wish that I could have at least seen a graph or two of benchmarks at 4k with SLI Titans. Nevertheless, there are already a few other videos out there with those numbers, its just a bummer I couldn't hear Luke tell me all about it :)
That video can be found here. Just incase a bot chooses the winner and doesn't like hyperlinks, I'll post the link again here: https://www.vessel.com/videos/JemZ8O7Hy

  2. My second favorite video on Vessel that I personally enjoyed watching was the "Insane Storage Server, 10Gigabit NAS" video (Full link just incase a bot swoops by and checks for two Vessel Links in plaintext https://www.vessel.com/videos/LCoY5zfFf). Frankly the entire concept seemed more like a "Dream Nas" than one that someone would actually need. Although, with you guys outputting 4k Pro-res videos daily, I can only imagine the space that would take up over time. I don't know what I was more excited about throughout the entire video though. The $600 motherboard, the hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in Storage, plus a 10Gbps switch, or the sweet rack-style case you have. Insane. Nevertheless, you mentioned around 5:20 or so in that video that you were interested in getting a network video rendering machine, and that is a video I would have no problem watching several episodes on. Just be sure to walk us through the whole process, how you'd connect it to all the employee's PC's, as well as a few Benchmarks to measure how well it outputs things from basic Video Renders to 3-D Rendering, or even F@H. Also, Did I hear you correctly when you said eighteen core Xeons? My goodness would that be sick. Then again, what need would Edzel and Co. have for their old rendering PC's? I mean, Edzel already has a 12 core Xeon iirc, so would you sell their old hardware for more standard gear, or just leave their already powerful hardware in the machines?

Looking back, there really was no need for me to type the explanation as to why I liked each video, but in the unlikely scenario that Linus & Co actually do read this post and reward me with a prize from the giveaway, I thought the least I could do would be to give them a bit of feedback. Finally, I would just like to thank each and every member of Linus Media Group for the work they do to bring us quality content day in and day out. Not only do I appreciate and trust the content that you all release on a day-to-day basis, but hundreds of thousands of other tech-enthusiasts share the same thoughts as I.

Since I'm still here and have spent way more time that I likely should have on a forum post that most likely three people will ever see, I'll crunch out the numbers (based on current post count) of roughly my odds of winning. At the time of me typing this out, there are 1,122 pages of posts of which people have entered. From what I can tell after browsing through three pages of entries, about 1 in every three posts included a twitter share, and about 1 in every five or so included a facebook share. This is a very rough estimate, but it should suffice. There are 20 posts per page, but only 19 on the first, since the OP's post counts towards that page's 20 posts. Therefore 1122 * 20 = 22440 - 1 = 22439 entries based purely on favorite video count. However, this does not yet account for the approximate number of twitter shares and facebook shares that will also be included to the total, therefore .333 * 22439 (proportion P of users who shared on twitter) = approx. 7472. 7472 + 22439 = 29911 total entries thus far. Then once we account for the number of facebook entires, you must multiply .2 * the original amount of total entries based on favorite videos (or post count, depending on how you look at it) = .2 * 22429 = 4488 approx. 4488 + the total number of entries based on postcount (22439) + total number of entires based on twitter shares (7472) = 34399 total entires. The chance of me winning on the first prize draw is 1/34399 as of me typing this. All of this considered when the giveaway has been open for <24 hours. I'll come back in a few days and check to see that my math is right, and I might update the numbers just before the giveaway closes, but for now I must sleeps.

Good luck to everyone, and may the statistics be with you.
