MSI H97M-G43 + XFX R9 290X

My 4th build I guess and I am disappointed with this damn MB:

 

I am using the MSI H97M-G43 motherboard with XFX R9 290X with i5-4590. 

 

The problem is this: the screws at the back of the gpu is touching the ram slots' clicking mechanism:

I cannot return the motherboard because my friend bought it for me from Dubai. What shall I do to overcome this problem? Should I melt the end of the ram slots' clicking mechanism?

BTW, don't buy this board, the clearance is very minimal between the first 16x slot and the ram slots.

Ah, Always check for clearance before buying. 

My friend is using this board. Not a ton of features but a good budget board. 

His Zotac GTX 970 fits perfectly. 

 

Try mounting it a a different way.

Get a file and file down the tab a bit.

It won't damage the functionality of the board.

It might work, just don't accidentally scratch the board.

I dropped a screwdriver on my X99 Pro and it scratched the PCB.

Works fine.

Can't you just unscrew those two ? i don't think you will have problems with two missing screws on your gpu

I noticed that the screws do not contact the end of black colored slots. Should I change my dual channel config to the black ones? I believe that the population order starts with the blue ones.
