There is a difference between needing a lot of ram and being benefitted from a lot of ram. Your applications may use a lot of available ram but you could probably do very well without a large part of it.

Oh please, I was idling at 13gb of ram usage just a week back. Get on my level kids.

 

Im so damn good at using ram I dont even need to be using my computer to suck it up.
