Worst Tech mistake you have ever made?

Mitch

Not the most PC related but I was able to convince a kid that because he had iOS 7 on his phone, it was now water proof and I had only known him for 1/2 an hour

After finding out the fans in my CM Storm Trooper Scout case weren't working, I eventually got around to attempting to fixing the issue.

After finding out that everything was plugged in the way it should, I tried plugging the fans into anywhere they would fit.

Turns out that the HDD cage LEDs would fit into the fan pins...

Upon turning my computer on, I heard a kind of whine sound, figured it was the CPU fan. Looked over, and my computer was billowing out smoke like you wouldn't believe.

I quickly ripped the power cable right out of the PSU.

It was around 2AM at the time and I was afraid the fire alarm in my hallway was going to go off.

So I quickly ran to my window, and took my computer case's side-panel to blow the smoke right out of my room.

Luckily, I don't have a fire alarm in my room or the thing would have gone off at 2AM... Good morning, Mom and Dad.

The next day, I contacted Cooler Master's support team, claiming that I needed a new I/O unit, and I would not make them pay for my stupidity. They sent me a new one with no hesitation at no charge and the fans in my computer are spinning in all their glory now.

The person can be computer illiterate or not I just want to hear your opinion

I built my friend's computer (first build) and I liquid cooled a i7 4771 which is locked! I'm disappointed that I won't be able to overclocking (don't want to void warranty or anything) and I didn't know what locked and unlocked was when I bought it! Hey the CPU will be cooler and quieter at least!

Unless I find out the corsair H55 is shit... (Built in an CM elite 130)

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

When I complained about my portable HDD not working some kid walked by and said.

"See, your stupid boring PC fails and my mac wins"

I replied with

"The freaking Hard Drive being retarded has nothing to do with my operating system"

He just stood there and then left. I think I lost him had "Hard Drive"

I really wanted to explain and then slap him, but he left before he had to think.

Did you know that 9800 GT is the best and fastest graphics card?  because 9800 > 780 680 590 480 etc   :D

I heard this on the lecture. My faculty is IT technologies :D

I wanted to grab some desk and break it on that dumb head!!!

ADMINISTRATOR we need more smiles!!

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

So, years back. I had an Nvidia card no idea what it was but it was pretty beastly card at the time, maybe something on the lines of 9800gtx? not sure. Anyway, there was a weird sound coming from the inside of my PC so I decided to investigate. I opened the side panel as it was working and leant inwards trying to listen to where the sound was coming from, couldn't figure it out so I leant more inwards and to balance my self to stop falling I raised my hand and put it on the graphics card without thinking and BOOM pc shut down. After several attempts the PC won't turn on, after 3rd time starting the PC smoke started coming from the GPU. Called up warranty and said it stopped working on it's own and got a new one in place of it :D :D :D :D !!!!

Today:

At my summerjob at the kindergarten, some of the teachers had issues with the projector and I asked them what they have done so far. And one said, I turned on the PC but the projector didn't go on.

Obviously the fcking VGA cable was hanging loose, attached to air and the projector wasn't even on.
