Pentium II Audio System

You do know that Microsoft is using the same factories to make the "Microsoft Lumia" as the "Nokia Lumia" right? So there is really no difference than the name on the product as well as how closely Microsoft can tie in the hardware and software (which is a positive). Microsoft would have bought another phone manufacture if they didnt like the way Nokia was already doing it, so basically everything is going to stay the same or get better.

I had a feeling of that but was not positive on that, good to know though. I still like the bold NOKIA font on the front of my phone ;)

If you can, get a Celeron 300A/333, they are very good for over clocking, and I've had both of mine (300A/333 respectively) match and beat Pentium IIs at the same speed (they even beat a Celeron 500 that was at 562MHz).

I believe I have about 10 Celerons that came out of some old POS systems on socket 370. I will have to check later today and see what they are

I have 2 Celeron 300A's, i use one in my 98 rig. Both are perfect at 450. :) A stripped version of 98 runs amazingly fast.

Now I want one, I could use a Pentium III but the older the better in my mind!

I've got 2 Celeron 333, but one of them died a few years ago. And since 2002 they've only been used for XP, which works brilliantly with them.

Ha, I'm not quite that old, I think the first PC I played around on was a 386 in

the early 90s, and the first one I bought and built myself was an Athlon 1.4 GHz

in 2001 or so. Fun times. :)

Man that sounds fun, back when AMD was hard competition and overclocking was worth it

Yeah, those were the glory days of AMD, tons of fun indeed. And water cooling

was still in its early stages and much more DIY-like. :D

I love this Pentium II build but an AMD Athlon build would be amazing to, parts are harder to find around me though but I guess eBay is also an option for something like that.

If I wasn't going to try and use it (after the 2 problematic capacitors that have died on a slot 1 and s370 motherboard as well as theSS7 mobo have been replaced), I'd send a K6-2 500 your way.

I know someone who owns one but it holds a sentimental value to him since it was his first custom build, seems like a sweet CPU though (ill steal it from him ;))

@iHardware Shelden

I'm still amazed that the parts you used look like new. Mine work like new, but as for their looks, you can see that they've been around for a long time.

Edit: Also, if you need a slot 1 & socket 370 motherboard I've got a spare one with a PIII 667MHz that's still good (it got replaced by my dual s370 mobo and by my now working slot 1 Intel mobo)

I might take you up on that offer if the board in getting for my 370 Celeron build does not work, for my Pentium III build I think I might be going with another slot 1 board since the one I have is almost identical to the Pentium II one. Thanks for the offer and ill make sure to stay in touch if it is needed, if I don't need it you might have to do a similar build like this one with that board ;) comments like this make me want to do better with the next system :D

All i need to do now is buy some cases!

Well the motherboard is multi socket, so you'll be able to go either way when choosing a CPU for future builds, and NP, I'm always happy to help. I've actually got 3 legacy build logs in progress (4 if I get my original 386 rig fully functional-still got everything from it except its case), the only constraints so far have been a lack of PSU, HDD, CD/DVD drives, a 5.25" drive (for my old PC DOS and Win 3.1 floppies and games) and expansion cards. And when you do build your next system, remember that you've already set the bar high  :D .

I might throw some old beige drives up on the classifieds when I get a chance, I have way to many IDE optical drives laying around and I do know they are coming harder to find

Beige ODD would actually be nice, I've already got a beige FDD in my ULR, and it actually looks awesome (I"ve got black ODD in it already though, the 2 beige ODD I have working are in my 1995 rig).

Sweet, I'll look at posting them. 2 of them came from an old PIII Gateway and the others came from old custom builds. Large and built like tanks, i'll probably put them up for $1 if I can :)

Also how many would you want?
