GTX 970 Owners Club

You should mention in the OP for people to copy the numbers from your BIOS into their own, so they don't just flash your BIOS on a different revision / different card and brick their GPU.

Even if the BIOS is for the same card, if the cards are of different revisions it can still screw shit up, I learned first hand from the OCN 970 thread when I tried flashing some G1 bios's on my G1.

I verified 1.0 and 1.1 bios's work fine on each other on OCN.

It's like 1450-1475mhz or something, I don't have GPU-Z installed atm.

Install GPU-Z and tell me and @Gofspar what company made the VRAM for it... Only the first few batches like mine got Samsung memory, Samsung is known for overclocking extremely well coming in at 8GHz effective 100% stable... Wouldn't run that 24/7, but I do run it at like 7.8GHz effective? daily. Hynix overclocks horribly though... And I'm pretty sure that is what most Strix 970s have now. :(

It says Samsung, I guess i'm just the unlucky one, i'm still really happy with the performance so i'm not gonna complain and just hope my next GPU will overclock better. :)

What was your offset on it stable? And what voltage offset, and power limit offset...? You might want to crank those sliders if you want to overclock.

Yes, maxing power limit, voltage, and temp limit is safe, Nvidia just likes to try and keep stuff locked down a lot... :/

I only set Voltage +5 and power limit to 110. Could that be the issue? I was hesitant to crank it up higher because people say adding lots of voltage will hurt the longevity of a card.

Yeah... Nvidia locks down their cards a lot on the stock BIOs, even ask other people with Nvidia cards... @Gofspar's G1 Gaming 970 was even locked down for a overclocking card that is binned... As long as you can keep temps below like 80C (I'd say 75C on the Strix 970 since the cooler isn't that impressive when overclocked) you'll be fine...

I've seen a lot of differing opinions here but should I start with the memory or core clock or does it not matter

@Darkman

How's this?

I couldn't budge the core clock even with increase in voltage but got the memory up pretty nicely.

Edit: Sorry about the quality, had to resize it to 720p to be able to get it to post :P

You're pushing that memory a bit hard and I see you're using heaven... Stay away from heaven, use Valley instead and run it for like 1-2 hours and look for artifacting... Then do a bit of gaming to ensure it is stable.
