whatever's inexpensive and at hand. medium thickness is easiest to use. I use Arctic silver 5 and MX-4. I have achieved the same temps with both. I usually use exclusively the MX-4 for laptops because it's non capacitive and laptops have bare dies, but really both work equally well for me.

I am using Xigmatek Freezing Point G4718, it is one of the best when it comes to temperatures, one of the best when it comes to its thickness and it does not conduct electricity so provides ultimate safety.

I have been using these for 3 years now, the same tube in fact, it is not one bit dryer than the first day I got it.

What is the best thermal paste available on the market currently? I have heard good thing about Arctic Silver 5. Any suggestions?

If only we all could afford 8 SSD's in Raid 0

MX4

Really they are all about the same...

Here are some graphs: (AS5 is definitely not the best, it used to be ok, not any more really...)

I use NT-H1

Same, probably the easiest paste to use. Spreads easily, wipes off easily :P

Gelid GC Extreme it applies easy, is relatively cheap, comes with a spreader and is non-conductive. You can get it on eBay for $10 shipped.

Heylo,

What do you guys think are the best brands of thermal paste? I want to know what you guys think is best because I want to buy some, and also just for general knowledge. The one you recommend can be any price, and brand, I don't mind, just wondering what you guys think, and what the majority think is best. Preferably compatible for GPU and CPU heatplates.

Thanks!

Mayonnaise is not a half bad alternative if you're in a pinch for temporary thermal paste.
