What Got You Into Computers?

Derykey

My dad was building 3 servers and I helped him build them when I was 7. Built 3 of my own computers since then. Oh, the good times.

Using scripts in games. That got me interested in what you could do with software, but I think building my own computer was what really got me into hardware. Hardware is what interests me most.

Been around computers for over 20 years. The breaking point that got me into computers was around 3 years ago. I was tired of consoles (went through 3 ps3's and 2 360's,) and really wanted to play the Arma II Dayz mod.

started from playing flashgames (y8 and shockwave) then went into mmorpg. After then I realized how computers vary when it comes to specifications, that got me into pc builds and how each can perform depending on the parts.

As long as I can remember I've had a PC at home. The first one we had was a 486.

I didn't really care to much until my dad had his friend install a new hard drive (6GB). I watched the install and was so fascinated it bit me. I knew then I would work in IT. Would have been around 10 or so.

Been hooked ever since and been through a dozen or more computers since

Core i7-2600k @ 4.65Ghz - Asus Maximus IV Gene Z - 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LP Cerilian Blue - Samsung EVO 840 250GB - Seagate Barracuda 7200 1TB - 2x EVGA Geforce GTX 760 SC - Corsair AX850, custom sleaved and length - Silverstone Sugo heavily modified - Full loop with EK blocks and 360 rad, frozenq res.

I had a piece of crap PC that kept dying and I didn't have the money to replace/repair it so I took it 'fixed' it myself and had a play around every time something went wrong.

Chanced upon an Alienware ad many years ago that piqued my interest. Did some research and discovered the wonders of building your own rig.

I have a question for you guys. I am a not a super expert in computer dianostics, but I know most of the stuff that could be problemsolving along the way. But I have a question... what got you into building computers or even interested...

Me? I worked on computers for two years... but never knew most of this stuff till I tought myself (thank you world wide web) and a computer class at my school (Graduate in Two Months! YAY!)

My dad told me everything about computers when i was 8, i couldn't stop talking about it. xD

Please, follow your own posts and mention me in comments, otherwise i won't be able to help you.

I started PC gaming a little along with console. I mostly just bought the games on steam that were super cheap. As I got more into PC gaming, I got more into peripherals, started watching Linus reviews, the rest is history.
