Yay we're gonna get a bunch more unity based games!

Especially now that its free(er). But really, more is better I guess, keep on striding forward.

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

Heyyo,

Does it still lack AMD CrossFire and NVIDIA SLI support like Unity 4 did? They never mentioned.. if so? I don't care about it lol. At least Unreal Engine 4 seems to scale accordingly to how many GPUs are in the system which is cool.. then again, it depends on the developers implementation/use of UE4... so maybe Unity 5 will suffer the same issue?

It's not free for commercial use.

You only pay them 5% after the first 3000$ every quarter once you've made a commercial release.

The point is that you do not have to pay them in order to use it while developing anything.

Neither will you have to for Unity. This deal is better if you don't need anything better than Unity.

UE4 has some perks (it gives source code for everyone, as an example, whereas you need to buy it separately with Unity, even with pro version) but the 5% Epic takes is off from revenue, not profit.

Meanwhile Unity 5 is free to use up until 100k, the biggest issue in the past was that the free version lacked some features even though it was pretty generous. Now the free version is even better, with some specific services offered for the users of the paid version. When you get past that 100k in revenue or funding, you have to buy the paid version which is 1500 USD (+ same per platform).

Now, 5% off from 97 000 is 4850. At that point I'd be glad to pay up, and that's everything I'd have to pay up. Sure, for a lot of people it doesn't matter, and Unity might not offer access to the source, but the royalty agreement is not even close to as restrictive.

Unity games are known to plague Steam greenlight.

I think we want less Unity games....

It's not free for commercial use.

It's 5% royalty which is reasonable.

And for personal and education use it is completely free, there is no "lite" or "pro" versions, you just get the whole package. I prefer this business model because as a student doing Information Technology and Game design this is a big bonus. Unlike Unity it locks out the good graphical options which is already present in UE3!

I sure hope not I still prefer classic Rust and would still play it if it wasn't for all the damn hackers.

I still hate unity unless I use that paid plugin that makes a bsp style editor for it..... 100% fuckin meshes get outa here

...

Positive is it practically wipes your ass, a very easy editor to master for those who can't handle a more steep learning for scripting and anim curve like unreal.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch
