ziftrcoin?

Just for fun, I compiled the binary from GitHub then ran it as an auto restarting daemon using

while true; do $(which minerd) -a ziftr -t $(echo $(nproc)-1|bc) -o http://ziftr.suprnova.cc:9991 -O worker:password; sleep 10; done

Please explain this a little more, I'm horrible at code. Also explain what the point of it is please.

Which part? The while true loop restart the do command once it exits. This is not necessary as the miner hasn't unexpectedly died unless I intentionally killed it.

I can't read code, I've tried programming before but I just can't grasp it. What is the intention of the loop? I'm not seeing the practicality of this mainly because I don't understand it (sorry..). I launch my miner, then it runs for hours in the pool with no issues, so I guess I just dont see a need for anything else.

I don't mean to sound harsh or anything, I just don't comprehend and want to understand what its purpose is.

i've been mining for a couple of hours (in two days i think total of 12 hours, in a pool (zrc.maxminers.net) with CPU miner, over 3 ziftrcoin :) CPU miner says 400 KH/s but the pool website sometimes even says 600 KH/s xD

I'm running @ 60 degrees celsius on i7-4790k @ 4.0 ghz (stock) with the hyper 212 evo, its almost dead silent... :)

I wouldn't call bash commands coding. As I said that this is for fun and the loop has no purpose in this case as the miner doesn't frequently die. If I run pkill minerd in another terminal then the loop will auto restart the miner after sleeping for 10 seconds.

That's kinda cool! Please teach me batch... >.<

Didn't connect the dots between batch and Linux earlier. I'm fairly good with Linux GUI, but not so much the CLI side of things. Thanks though!

Think I'll give this one a go. I made a good amount of money from Litecoin as I had mined many when they were very easy to mine and very low price.

To my knowledge there's no GPU mining yet though, is this something in the works or are they attempting to keep it a CPU coin?

As far as I've heard/been told/read, GPU is very much so going to be a thing

Only getting 55-100KH/s when using 6/8 cores for whatever reason. Not sure if it is because I'm running a VM on the other two cores or what, but yeah, not crazy happy about it. At least I'm still mining though, I guess..

I've officially made 1 whole coin through the pool (currently sitting at about 1.6 total coins). 180-200 KH/s isn't too profitable.

What processor? And I'm at almost 14 coins, averaging 400-600KH/s. It takes time, how long have you been mining overall?

It seems like people are starting to figure out how to gpu mine.

Didn't see a way for me to mine with my 650Ti or 6950. Didn't look that hard. Oh, and would it be possible to mine with the 650Ti and use the 6950 as my video card to the monitor? Not sure if/how to run two different GPUs...

They did't release any source code. But it is plausible that someone started GPU mining, since there are people with 10+Mh/s in the pool.

You can't run nvidia and amd cards in the same pc as far as I know.

You can, Linus has done at least one video on it. Just not sure how well it works out or the specifics as to how you configure it.

you can use both at the same time (planning to get my 650 in there) question is where is the tool?

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Oh, I know it takes time. I'm using an AMD FX-8150 getting 180-220KH/s, so significantly less than you.

Seems interesting. I'm currently investigating any way to use Cudaminer to use my 660Ti to mine this coin. Unfortunately I have only a very basic knowledge of miners and I'm afraid I'll just have to wait until they release the official GPU miner.

If you get it, working, let us know! SGminer on an nVidia card should still be better than just CPU mining for me.

Don't know if you specifically mean for mining...

But for other things you can, but not for single use gaming or anything..

Not sure about mining, but you CAN use both cards in a system at once with both sets of drivers installed, used to output more displays or multitask rendering with cuda while mining with opencl.

Or similarly different GPUCompute tasks...

Again, dunno if you mean just for mining, if so, disregard all this ;)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

What did you type in the batch file?On the suprnova pool there are also instructions on how to set up a GPU miner, although the binaries are missing.

I used their batch code with SGminer 5.1

As far as I can seee, the default config has the darkcoin-mod.Does it work for ziftrcoin?
