At $500 it won't be much of a challenge.

The Q6600 ran at a 1066FSB. Q9450 is one of the top line quad cores with a higher FSB and much bigger L2 cache.

I would have to say both, actually. The board didn't appear to be the best. I have no clue what it was, but I know linus' was better.

And even linus' was shit compared to one of these babies which will arrive on my doorstep within the next week.

not nearly as sexy as my msi p35 platinum. B)

You guys really need to stop with the ridiculous part names. Just name it part 2 or 3, wth is 1c

Linus clarified this on the latest episode of the WAN show.

It's because this is going to be a complete series, as in the next episode in the series is going to be 2a, then 2b, 2c, then 3a and so on.

If that e8400 was actually overclocked the benchmarks would have been really similar. Kudos to Linus for making an aesthetically pleasing pc too.

Wow I cant believe Luke lost with that R9 290 I would not have thought that the core 2 duo would of held the R9 290 back that much in games. Great series, I look forward to the next one.

I wonder if the fact that the R9 290 was almost assuredly used for crypto-currency mining took its toll on it.

Agreed!

and it would be cool to take some time to cable manage it and make it look all nice, like something you wouldn't mind using

Easily my favorite video series you've done so far. I could see this becoming a channel on its own.

I still have both an e8400 (in a 975x chipset board) and a q6600 with a Gigabyte EP45 (not the 35) just sitting in my closet. These videos have made me realize how little they are actually worth.

I think it's because the'll be having different challenges under the Scrapyard Wars title, so the next one will be 2a, 2b, same goes onwards.

I really wish I had something like this, a friend that was really into tech and awesome knowledge and challenges.

You guys live my dream.

Really? My dream is two bitches at the same time.

I wonder if they are going to try to sell these on the after party/garage sale. Or maybe they are going to donate them to a local school or something. Either way love the series.

Why not season 1 part 1, part 2 etc, and then series 2 part 1, part 2 etc?

Couple flaws with that build.

Powercolor is known for their flaws with coil whine, especially on their r9 270 cards which fail quite a lot.

FBM-02 is an absolutely dreaful case. Yeah it does it's job, but it's a pain in the ass to build in. Almost as bad as dell cases.

I'll give you credit on the board, that's a good board.

Most people don't use OutletPC or SuperBiiz. The typical person uses Amazon or Newegg, and because of that , prices are definitely subject to change.

BTW, you can get dual channel (2x4GB 1333mhz) for that price. Dual channel increases overall throughput and bandwidth between the CPU and memory, and frequency hardly makes a difference.

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.

How come they have Cooler Master advertisement in the video when Youtube said that they cannot use advertisement clips in their video as it is not giving theme any profit? Or is it that, this video will remain unlisted and a separate video will be uploaded to Youtube without that ad? Just saying as they do not keep any advertisement clips in their videos any more! I really liked them, when they were in the beginning, not when they were inserted in the middle!
