Linus receiver Review.... Maybe

With everything going the way it is in gaming who would not want a 4K pass through A/V receiver tho make their gaming more in depth and get totally immersed in the quality sound of crisp real time audio. all connected to a bichin 7.1 surround sound system. 

 

Yes we all would but who knows if the Manufacturing marketing team is lying to you. 

 

Well this is where I come to humbly ask Linus to do a A/V receiver review. 

 

maybe this could be an upcoming video. 

 

 

Now before U all yell at me and tell me their is already a spot for this, well today is my first day on here and search as I may could not find the section for suggested reviews. srry in advance.

I'm pretty tired of the response to PC audio being basically, "Get this set of headphones or do without".

Alot of people don't actually know that HDMI is pretty much to only way to get more than 5.1 audio out from most computers in a digital format. It also helps for watching movies that have DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby Digital TrueHD (high bitrate audio).

 

Alot of people jump on the optical (S/PIDF) bandwagon without realizing that it has pretty much been deprecated in terms of new audio format support and it is limited to at most 5.1 channels due to bandwidth limitations.

 

Would make for some interesting video(s).

Titled: How to Build the ULTIMATE Surround Gaming PC Build Guide, this video doesn't even remotely come close to "surround gaming". For one thing, it's only semi-wrap-around, & the main point is that it completely ignores surround audio. It does mention headphones --- no possible surround sound to be found there, I don't care how many tiny little drivers  they cram into a can! Has no headphone manufacturer noticed that no 2 sets of human ear lobes are exactly the same? Until there's a plug going directly to your cerebral cortex, (at which point, they could also do away with monitors for video), it takes satellite speakers to produce surround sound, & something to change the PC output sound to discrete channels for the separate speakers. I'd like to see a proper system for doing that, that doesn't put me in sticker shock.

Where headphones do good to a point. No one has beaten my friend Bruce Galloway and hit system he has 4 25" in floor and ceiling and walls plus 30 speakers in each wall left and right. powered by 7 3500 watt amps all in 5.1 going from 3 receivers. But man he owns his own chain of grocery stores. The rumble in the room shakes your bones. and yes he does need a hearing aid. 

 

But yeah not thinking of this big. 

 

Anyway people underestimate A/V receivers.

Marantz wins hands down for me. My friend has one of their 7.2 receiver (SR5009) and he loves it. I've listened to it both with a 7.1 speaker arrangement and with DT880 Pro hooked up to the headphone amp on the unit. Its stellar. 

 

I have yet to experience any new Yamaha equipment, but they're well regarded at that price point. Personally, I have an Technics 5.1 receiver that I use with S/PDIF and it rocks as well. 

 

You've got me actually thinking I might upgrade to a Marantz receiver this year  .

I am honestly thinking of getting the 

Marantz NR1403

why well because it will fit in my gaming station quite well. I also and getting a 3500 watt preamp which will then go to my 4 1k watt rms speakers. and a 20" sub in the center of the floor. it will be sweet but is a build which will take me 6 months. 

 

But also whne using a computer your on board audio is where it all starts and that will in the end determine you quality of output in the end because it all starts with a good initial input.
