I have an q701, same shit

It's awesome, but the headband sucks big time, so get a custom made wool sleaving for it (ebay or whatnot), works great

 

also not sure if massdrop still has that ridiculous price drop on k/q 700 series

The k712 is a lot different, it has ~10 db more bass & a lot more mid-range presence. It also doesn't have bumps on the headband & has bigger thicker pads.

You're doing it wrong, just say it sounds very very similiar to $1500 HD800 and then AKG will be flooded with K712 orders :ph34r:
