Bottleneck??

Bender

[h=5]Hello Everyone,

I have 2 6970 in Crossfire X and I am concerned about their performance. In Crysis 1 I am only getting 30% on each card, and with only one card around 40%. In other games I usually have CF disable because I get 60fps on one card. In BF3 I get 99% on each card. My First thought was I have a CPU bottleneck with my 1090t, so I overclocked it to 4.0GHz. This gave me no improvement in Crysis. I know that I should get at least 50fps constant on Crysis, because I see peoples 6990s getting that and the 6970x2 > 6990.[/h]

[h=5]I am on CCC 13.1

System

AMD 1090t BE 3.2 (Stock) or 4Ghz (Sometimes)

H50 Cooling

8GB Kingston Ram (4x2)

ASUS CROSSHAIR 4 Formula

ASUS 6970 DCII (CARD1)

VisionTek 6970 (CARD2)

HX1050

400R

Any thoughts on what I could do to get 99% Usage on both cards would be great. But mainly IS THE CPU BOTTLENECKING THE 6970s???

you mostly dont want 100 percent load those load percents are fine it only uses the power it needs unless you get more fps on one card then both.

Don't worry too much about the usage. If the FPS is correct, that is.

Anyway, have you installed the Catalyst Application profiles?

And finally, the 1090T is not such a slow CPU that it would bottleneck it AFAIK.

Is your vsync on? It could that your cards are getting 60fps at 30/40% and just don,t need to perform more.

Or if you aren't playing full screen the second card won't do anything because crossfire won't recognize the game.

Agreed an 1155 board should fix that. jk its most-likely v-sync i would presume.
