Retro Build Log ~ "The Future is Back" ~

Noxz
Heyy, welcome to my buildlog!

About me:

I'm new to the build log stuff, but I'll try my best to keep you guys updated. I've been interested in computers my whole life, builded my first in 2012. So far I've built above 20 computers, and I'm looking forwards to share my builds with you. All my knowledge I've got from the forums and my friends, BIG thanks to all the people that helped me make this dream possible!  ^_^

Purpose of the Retro build log:

I got my hands on a old school case (AOpen HQ-45) and my goal are to create a retro computer that got the "wow" factor. Looks like a old computer but it will most likely run every single game at 60 fps +. I want to honor the gamer veterans.

What to expect:

-Lost of photos and updates.

-CPU running at 4-5GHz without heating problems.

The specs I might get to the project :

Mobo : ATX 1150 Socket

Cpu : Intel i5-4690k

Cpu cooler : Corsair h110 GT

HDDs : 2x 2tb Western Digital Red

SSDs : 2x 240-250gb

PSU : Corsair RM850

GPU : Amd Radeon 390X

RAM : 16 gb

And some extra delta fans ~

This is just the beginning of a awesome project, stay tuned for more photos!

Feel free to share the thread. Enjoy.

  • 3 weeks later...

A little quick update :

I've bought in shitloads of tools to do more work, but do anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

I'm thinking on making two 140/120mm "fan-holes" in the bottom and make the one at the back bigger. And maybe some on the front to get better airflow.

My idea would be to dremel out the front panel sides (Inspiration:Fractal Define r5/H440) in a \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ pattern or make a big hole ( will be ugly probably :( ) and then cut out a mount for a 140mm or 120mm fans and even ,if possible, even 2 fans of the fitable size..

Mod the 5'5 bay to fit your storage to make ample space for your fans/radiators or make the 5'5 empty to fit all the cables (i've done that in a core 1000 , just showed all the cables there to reduce lenght ) and mount the storage either on the panel or on the bottom.

For cable managment theres still a bit of room so i would recomend to cut out a small hole to route your motherboard 8 pin.

Hope theese were useful
