celeron processor able to output 4K content?

Hi all,

I'm looking into getting info if a Celeron will be enough to output 4K video.  I don't have any video yet but I'm building a HTPC and wondering if a Celeron with 4-8GB of ram using the onboard video will do the job.  I have seen some NAS boxes that can do it using a Pentium processor (Dual core G3250) with 4GB

Thanks in advance.

Avoid celerons. They choke on high quality 1080p video, so while MAYBE it can output a 4k signal it won't be able to play a video at that resolution. A pentium will certainly be much better and you should really spend the (little) extra money.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Mmmmm I don't knoww :/

You'll be fine with 1080p, but 4k will be pushing it. I'd recommend an APU or low profile graphics card.

Get a pentium or a core i3 instead...it won't cost much more but will be much better overall.
