Best fans to this date. A worthy heir to the Scythe GT's, if you have the money.

Hi all,

 

Inspired by Linus I put my desktop and NAS in a fancy server rack. I watercooled the desktop by supending the two 360PE radiators in a selfmade 2U contraption out of wood. The NAS is passively cooled and completely silent. The bottom drawer (containing power cords, ethernet switch and other pc stuff) is also selfmade out of wood, as is the platform the rack sits on. Due to the shitty airflow of this setup watercooling was kinda necessary, and I'm still working on some extra fans to actively refresh the air inside the rack. But I think this setup looks pretty cool.

Finally received GPU block from Fluid gaming. I have 9700k and vega 64. It is a fluid gaming that started as an 240. purchased 2 360mm rads and a bunch of fittings. I used like 5 to get the side rad tubes where I could manage them. I am wanting to do hardline now but I am going to make myself wait for a little while. Maybe get the stuff to bend and practice since I want multiple 90s on each tube in liquidhaus style. 

Could use some custom extensions, another uv strip for the front. Sorry about green text I don't know why it did that.

My Asus X99-A motherboard died a week ago and is replaced with an Asus X99 Sabertooth. Not really much has changed on the loop except that I had to go back using my EK Supremacy EVO CPU block. Had to mount it with the logo upside down so I wouldn't have to switch the tubings going in the GPU on the bottomside. 

Also, replaced the Thermatake Riing fans for Corsair's LL120 and a new color mixed from Mayhem's UV ice blue and a little bit of laser green.

This is my first watercooled build in the NZXT H700 (full parts list at bottom). Indeed it is my first pc build, if you discount the ones I helped with in 1995 when I was 4. 

I crammed a 60mm x 360mm radiator in the front in push-pull, and a regular 30mm x 360mm in the top, also in push-pull.

Frustratingly, push-pull clearance is not supported for any top rad unless you have clearance to have fans hanging down over your ram. The gSkill Trident-Z RGB's are 45mm tall, which may clear the fans here, but why even buy RGB ram if you can't see the damn thing. Your aesthetics go right out the window! In this build, the pull side of the fans on the top rad, outside of the case, protrude above the resting elevation of the top cover by 15mm (so the top cover is a no-go).

This was an after-the-fact addition. I'm sure the rad would have performed just fine with just nf-f12's in push, however the airflow in the case suffered and thus the performance suffered on the monster 360 in the front, and thus the performance of the whole loop suffered, and it makes for a cranky first-time builder. That's why I added Arctic F12's in pull on top.

The full-cover GPU blocks were bought at different times, and one was half-off, I assume because it was part of the last-gen phoenix modular-series thing that EK does (phoeniz MLC). I'm not buying a matching one for the nicer one!

 

Performance note: I was able to overclock my delidded 8700k to 5400MHz on four cores and 5300MHz on the remaining two. AVX offset -3.

Under non-avx Prime95, peak CPU core temps saturate to 75 C.

Under avx Prime95, peak CPU core temps saturate to 86 C. P sweet.

1080's dont get very hot under gaming loads, however I am a computer science student and I do quite a bit of long-run machine learning stuff. Under extended loads I will not see over 45 C on these cards.

I'll be upgrading to a newly ordered EVGA 2080 TI FTW3 HydroCopper, and plan on using all EKWB parts with soft tubing. A picture of the new card and my current build are attached.

 

I'm currently on a two month work trip, so wont be able to start building the new loop until March, but enjoy the pics thus far and I'll keep u all updated as I progress!

I can't recommend EK ZMT tubing enough.  

If you are going to go for soft tubing, that is the way to go!

^^^ Second this. My rig I'm using rn and one I built for a friend last Christmas are both using ZMT tubing, it's amazing stuff. I use mine with barbs and black zip ties for security, looks good and doesn't leak.

if you'll use 7/16" id hose on 1/2" barbs, you wont need ties or clamps. you'll have to cut the hose off the barb to refit.

This is neat! I'm going to build something very similar, same case, same raditors, don't realize the Define C is so small. How would you drain your loop in this setup?

 

I'm considering mount the reservior in rear fan location ... but its really tight!

I'm not sure but I can only count five instead of seven extension brackets, which could mean that this is a Define C Mini (microATX) instead of the ATX Define C.

 

Nice build nonetheless, really appreciate the matte tubing. I'd love to start a watercooled build in the Define C Mini - two 280 rads, parallel loop, reservoir pump combo mounted horizontal to the psu shroud, ZM tubing...  Similar to this: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/b/Rp3bt6 in terms of the res mount

hell yes for small formfactor watercooling! looks absolutely beautifull. what are te temps like with all glass panels installed? i would imagine having the second rad relying on case pressure would need for all glass to be installed?
