I voted for 1080ti but what does GTX even mean?

It's the naming scheme they use.

GT is for lower end cards like the 740, 720, etc. GTX is for their higher end cards. Basically is just to show what side of the line they're on.

 I agree.

For everything else though. I will never understand why Nvidia never the 800 series.

i think the 800 series made it only for maxwell in laptops

The name should be the price from now on. "Hey guys I just got my new Nvidia 549.99, its way better than the 349.99 that you guys paid 349.99 for!"

LOL

AMD has a wayyyyyy better naming scheme like just listen to it-

Radeon-GTX

Radeon even makes you feel firey when you here it!

The name? Ok. Better naming scheme? For R9, R8 etc from their old naming scheme. Some people are still confused lol. Don't think its way better.

They'll probably go 1000 Series like GTX1080, and then people will think that GTX 1080 is a GPU for 1080p :D LOL. I hope at least Pascal doubles the performance of GTX 980 which I got now.

it will all go full circle. my first gaming gpu I bought was an amd x650 pro and then I had a 8800gts. soo both nvidia and amd go around the clock.

they're just both in triple digits at the moment.

remember the 8000 series and the 9000 series?

I still have a pair of 9600GT's  in an old computer I'm using for rendering.

Maybe they'll skip the 1000 series like they did with the 800 series.  Jump to GTX 2k

Maybe GTZ or GTY because y and z come after x

well, their X in the name meant extreme. not just a random letter they put. hence why there are different variants of graphic chips such as the GT730 vs GTX 750ti etc.

IIRC both GTX 800 and Radeon 8000 series made it only onto mobile markets for some odd reason.

I'm betting my money on something new. GTX 1080 simply doesn't really sound good. Same reason AMD didn't go with Radeon 10970 but opted for the R9/R7/R5 thing.

well they might just go for GTX 1080, but again as another person mentioned they might just go with a new name over the GTX and a new numbering scheme, Something maybe like

",Nvidia Geforce NX 1160, Nvidia NXI Geforce 1160Ti,Nvidia Geforce NXI 1180Ti" something like that?" (half arsed idea)

but then again people are probably too used to GTX by now so they probably might just do GTX 1080 then do some fancy new naming scheme after the 1080.

Hey bro i like yo *vomits on you*
