New Zealand Spy Bill

Woodypc

The NZ government is trying to put through a bill to allow it the GCSB to legally spy on NZ citizens. They are supposed to be able to only spy on non NZ citizen however they were found out during the KIM DOTCOM case in which they had illegally spied on him, as he is a NZ citizen. Now they wish to change it and use a bill to pass the ability to spy on NZ citizens as well. They claim it is to only legalese what has already being happening for years. This is NOT Merica.

"It seems that the underlying objective of the legislation is to give the GCSB powers it lacked previously: the power to conduct surveillance on New Zealand citizens and residents. No explanation or justification for the conferral of this power is given.

I'm sure we will hear something from Kim Dotcom here soon about this.

They are probably already doing it they just want it to now be legal and without consequences for them.

They are also sort of wanting to start our own version of PRISM in Wellington.
