RAM and Graphics card upgrade, or new system?

Hi. 

 

I have a pc at home which is beginning to run slow in games and certain games won't even start because my graphics card (GTX 260) only runs directx 10....Looking at you Ubisoft.. 

 

So my question is, should I upgrade my graphics card from a GTX 260 to a GTX 970 from Asus, and upgrade my RAM from 6 GB to 16 GB? Or, should I just buy a whole new computer? I believe the rest of my computer is pretty decent I am just worried that it might die in just a year or 2. 

 

Btw, the computer is around 5 years old.

 

Here are all of my specs:

 

Asus Rampage iii extreme

 

Intel core I7-930

 

6 GB RAM (can't remember what brand or speed)

 

GTX 260 reference card

 

CoolerMaster v8 CPU cooler

 

128 GB SSD

 

2 TB HDD

Your PC is still pretty capable.
I don't think the CPU would be a bottleneck if you get the 970.

New GPU definitley. However I wouldn't invest in RAM atm. DDR4 for consumer platforms is right around the corner and you would end up with lots of DDR3 sticks that you can't use once you do a proper platform upgrade.

Your system is ok, just get the 970 and the ram but really 16gb for games is overkill..
