1440p 144hz vs 1080p 144hz FREESYNC

xnoobftw

Factoring cost in (Cost vs Eye Candy), a 24 inch 1080p one or a 27 inch 1440p one would be the better bang for the buck?

Requirements would be each needs to be 144hz (With freesync)

Which one would you get?

are 1440p 144Hz monitors even a thing? and "bang for buck" is a really shady metric in this case, as what decides how much more 1440p is worth?

if we're comparing the percentage of the extra cost for "pretties" (aka the case around it, vesa mount etc) between two similar monitors, with only that difference, the 1440p would be better bang for buck, as the technology inside gets significantly more expensive, while the outside case would (to get a good metric) stay mostly the same.

EDIT: appareantly they are a thing (i need to pay closer attention to things happening) they seem insanely more expensive than 1080p tho.

A good basis would be similar specs with the difference being resolution and size

I would get the 2K one. More pixels=better :D   (if the image quality is the "same")
The only problem is that i think you'll need to wait for 2K 144hz freesync monitors a little longer.

either i'm asleep, or 2K is smaller than 1440p (remember, K is the horizontal metric, p is the vertical metric)

as far as i know 1440p is considered "2.5K"

Hmmmm but i heard that 1440p is similarly priced to 4k monitors.... D:

(Im just a student and honestly speaking my budget is around 1000SGD... Trust me when the monitors comes to SG it will double the price)

An example would be asus vg248qe (It sells for 550SGD here)

i think the upcoming 29" 75hz freesync monitor will be a fucking good bang for buck...lg 29um67

and imo the 34um67 will be an even better bang for buck, cuz its 1080p too, with same 75hz and freesync (i bet its 1080p so it costs as much as current lg34um65)

Components are expensive in Singapore.

You can get a VG248QE for about USD $260 in the US, which is about SGD $350 after conversion.

Amazon delivers free to Singapore if your total purchase is at least USD $125 and meets certain conditions.

And if your purchase is of SGD $400 or less, you don't have to pay GST or any taxes for it.

Why pay for stupid high rent?

Well the difference in price is still a whopping SGD $200.

You still save a lot if you pay for shipping.

The shipping itself is over 100.... But the pros of buying locally is because of local warranty!

So i have no idea what to do....

I hate the prices here as well. But back on topic...

I can see why you would want Freesync, but those monitors don't have a price tag on them yet, let alone availability in SG.

Honestly speaking, at 1080p you will get very high framerates. With just any 144Hz monitor (of that resolution) you will hardly notice the tearing.

While at 1440p your framerate will be lower. You would benefit more from Freesync at that resolution, but if the panel is 144Hz it is still nowhere as noticeable as on a 60Hz panel.

So I would go with a 1440p monitor. Personally I'm more excited for 144Hz IPS monitors but I'd probably have to sell a few organs to afford one in SG. Nice Steam name by the way

Are you from SG? xD  (HOW DID YOU SEE MY STEAM NAME xD)

Hmmmm Im afraid that the 1440p 144hz freesync monitor would cost literally my entire family's organ and my heart with 2 cherrios xD

I'm thinking like my GPU will be more "futureproof" if i were to stick to 1080p with a 290x (which i got for 700SGD)

Yes I'm from SG, but your Steam name is at the bottom of your profile page for everyone to see.

Lol the 290X is SGD $400 in the US... Fusking rent... remember not to vote for PAP. Shh don't tell anyone xD

Yes you will be able to max games for a much longer time at 1080p. If futureproofing is your goal, a 144Hz 1080p monitor is not a bad choice.

how much do you think the monitor would cost? 1080p 144hz freesync (i heard it would cost 600usd from america GG)

If it uses a TN panel, then the monitor should by logic not cost more than an existing 1080p 144Hz Gsync monitor.

Which appears to be this $450 unit

But you know how it is in SG, it will be unreasonably expensive when it gets here.

Grrrrr :(
