Which text editor do you use?

jam1234

Hey guys,

I am looking for a text editor to write HTML, CSS, PHP etc.

I have done some searches and sublime text looks good. But I want to find out if you recommend any others. Preferably it would have SASS/SCSS syntax or have the ability to install one.

Just looking for an opinion as I want my experience to be the best and quickest possible.

Thanks in advance,

James

I am currently using NotePad++ (their website was suppose to be hacked or something at the moment.. Might be harder to get your hands on it..)

But Sublime text 2.0 seems cool too.

I know aptana studio does HTML and CSS, so I'd imagine it'd do PHP and all the other "web" programming languages

Sublime Text 3, Brackets, and Eclipse, all in their respective 'fields'.

Brackets is essentially Atom, but built specifically for webdev--also from Github.

Like the look of Atom, never heard of it before is it new??

Nah not really, it's just a github project. No reason not to try it in my opinion.

Atom because open source

Not only because of that, but because it is a really good editor. I've used it for some node.js work and it worked really well for that.

vim master race.

If I need a full environment I use Eclipse PHP development tools; PHPStorm is probably better but I don't care.

I use sublime text 2 now (used notepad++ before) sometimes PHP storm can be usefull especially if you're beginning.

Beneath this mask there is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof.

These two. Notepad++ for things where line numbers are helpful, and... Yeah. Not that I do anything advanced... ;)

Brackets.io for me. I found it looks much better than Notepad++, is free, open source and has a few cool features!

Really like Brakets think that I will probably use it :D

I've never heard of that before and it looks awesome... giving it a shot now too :). I've used Atom extensively though and came here to recommend that.
