Cooler Master N200 front fan noise fix

I'm somebody who rarely modifies cases, but the humming noise caused by the grilles of my Cooler Master N200 was just getting so annoying that I had to do something about it. Due to the way that when the fans are intakes and they are placed right up against the grille, turbulence between the blades and the solid parts of the grille cause uneven airflow therefore a humming or whining sound.

 

The concept and result of which is explained in this video (albeit a bit exaggerated)

 

 

This is what the case looked like before. As you can see there is already mesh as well as a fine filter on the removable front panel, so zero point of having the honeycomb.

Aaah, finally some peace and quiet. I might clean it up later so there isn't metal poking out everywhere, but that's for another day.

Good mod though. I did that with my crappy generic case a few years ago on the intake and the exhaust.

There may not be enough space to do that, but I'm going to try it with my mother-in-law's PC. I noticed when I first started up her new system in the N200, that buzzing from the front fan. I'll try mounting it on the outside and report back to this thread.

Theoretically no, but I also don't know if there is actually room or not. I'm not at home atm so not able to check right now.
