-ISP Name: Sonera
-What speed you're supposed to get: 100/5
-What speed you actually get: 95/4.85
-Rating (Out of 5): 5, very satisfied with this connection, no random disconnects, very little issues. Also, no data cap. (I don't think any Finnish wired connection has one tho..)

-Cost: Can't quite remember, I think it's 35€/mo

Post and rate your ISP Info!

-ISP Name

-What speed you're supposed to get

-What speed you actually get

-Rating (Out of 5)

-Cost (Optional)

I'll start :)

ISP: Rogers Hi-Speed

Plan: 25Mb/s

What I actually get: 0-10MB/s

Rating: 2/5. Internet will randomly cut out during parts of the day and is sometimes annoyingly slow -.-

I also hate the 80GB limit per month.

You missed some things. Country and connection type.

Anyway mine:

Country: Portugal

ISP Name: PT Meo

Type: Fiber

Plan: 100 down 10 up

Actual: 98 down 22 up

Rating: 4 for speed and stability. But really really weak and unstable router is given. Im about to spend 200$ on a router because of it. not only xD

Cost: 40€ but includes unlimited traffic and phone with unlimited calls to landlines.

How's your experience with your ISP? Good or bad? Share some info about your experiences of ISPs you've tried.

Can you also mention where or what state you live, the type of connection you have and your speeds?

I'm currently looking for a place somewhere in US with a fast connection and I'd like to get some feedbacks from your experiences. :)

I've got telus 50/10 and it works great. I get exactly the advertised speeds, almost never had any down time.

Of course its expensive in my area, but the only alternative is shaw, and I hear they give quite a lot of issues.

My customer service so far has been a positive experience. They have fixed any issues I had.

Optimum. Slow on sunday mornings, download speeds cap at 2.1mb/s even tho im paying for 10 mbps/s Optimum hotspots are great, helps me save on data. Sometimes the connection will randomly drop, but its rare, once a month.

Wouldn't recommend, although a decent choice

AT&T U-verse. 6Mbps/1Mbps : $45

I posted a rant about this once.

Take a look:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/185779-rant-about-att/

Oh and I forgot to mention this.

I had to wait for THREE FUCKING WEEKS for my internet to be restored at my new place.

They shouldn't go fuck themselves.

These assholes should be chopped up and left alone to rot.

BSNL. Fuck. No bitch likes them. They're a telephone company. So the internet they give is totally fucked up.

They promise speeds upto 4 mbps in a normal plan. with about 10 gb of download cap?

But we get around 50 KBPS and after we finish that 10gb cap, internet cannot be used. It turns out to be so fucking slow.

Globe Telecom (2Mbps plan over copper)

Wired is good, mobile data is crap, wimax even crappier...

I'd upgrade to 5Mbps copper if I can... I trust their landline division...

BayanTel (3Mbps plan over copper)

Not that reliable, sharing the plan is a pain in the backside... Had a week-long downtime for no reason after a storm blew through the country...

DilNet (100+Mbps University Connection)

Reliable, free, but lots of sites are blocked for no legitimate reason... Very useful when getting linux distros...

CikTel in Toronto Ontario. worst customer serverice. They save the exact same thing everytime we call about a issue. "Unplug modem and call us back if we have a issue". They also provide online tv for us as well that buffers constantly.http://www.canadianisp.ca/cgi-bin/isp_comment_totals.cgi?f=Comments&ispid=150 Other people have the same issues as I have.

I have a pig****** ISP.

Its T6 or T6b there is no cap or anything its all unlimited, but I don't think you can even use up

that much data in a month with the ****** speeds!

Only becuase they are the only provider where we live.

I get 4.54Mbps down and 0.90Mbps up LOL its pretty bad and I think we pay like $40 a month.

Starhub, and heck no. There's a 1Gbps ISP here which is cheaper than my current plan, which gets me about 40Mbps max and is highly inconsistent (not that that's too bad by itself, just that in comparison to other ISPs it sucks). My parents refuse to switch because we get a discount for using Starhub mobile, TV and Internet.
