Darkman

I heard that the ASUS coolers for AMD cards were bad for cooling on the forums.

Only some AMD Asus cards, such as the Direct CU2 coolers on the R9 290/290X cards.

Oh shit, that's good!

No kidding, just idles in the 32-46C range and is kind of loud for idle, but the performance makes up for it big time. ArmA 3 completely maxed at the 50-60FPS all day long. :D Sadly I won't overclock it since those load temps are a bit much for me to OC.

Update 2

Yeah, my HD7770 is back in and running. You might be wondering why, my 290 died in 24 hours. Amazon said it was supposed to arrive, I'll just send it back to Amazon as a DOA and get a refund.

if you get a new R9 290, get an MSI or Sapphire one, Asus tend to have problems with VRM cooling

BTW do you know you have my dream built?

I would go mITX probs, same CPU, I have an HD 7770 and I would go for r9 290/380x/390 (well see)

Update 4, Ordered The GPU

I just ordered my GPU from Newegg. Will be packing up my 290 for Amazon tomorrow. They let me know I can ship it back anytime before January 31st, so I already got everything ready for it. Just need packing tape. The GPU is a Asus GTX 970 Strix. I was going to get a MSI R9 290X Lightning, but it went off of sale today, the day of ordering... GG. Anyway, I'll be getting a copy of FarCry 4 with it. My friend happened to get Farcry for Christmas too so that'll be awesome getting chased everywhere by elephants. xD

Update 5, More Bad News. This Time It Isn't The Parts Fault

Well, I stayed up all night gaming and having a fun time with friends on FarCry 4. Anyway, I took a 1 hour nap, and woke up to a fuse in the house blowing. I noticed it was the one to my computer which is connected to part of the living room. Anyway, I restarted it, and then went to boot my computer. It said something about my motherboard saving all of my components from a power surge. The power surge took my damn power supply. I'm off to send EVGA an email and see what they'll do about it with the 10 year warranty. All I can say is, I have had so much bad luck this doesn't mean anything anymore. Who the fuck cares that my GTX 970 is coming either tomorrow or Wednesday and I can't run it due to risk of killing it.

Might have to say something that didn't happen to the PSU to get a replacement... :/ Really stupid how it doesn't cover a fuse being blown or other electrical stuff. Like come on, it's a power supply, it will always be plugged directly into that stuff.

Update 6, Some News and Pictures

Ok, I took my computer to a friends house to test my parts, everything works except I don't know about my HD 7770... Also, it never crashed at his house. I honestly think I just have a faulty surge protector. Anyway, I installed my 970, and it is a beast. Idling at 32-34C is sweet. Full load is 68C in FarCry 4 at I think Very High. Not sure about Ultra, Ultra makes it run in the 40FPS range with very little detail improvement while Very High is 60+ with dips in the low 50s and rarely in the high 40s.
