I just installed Windows 8.1 last week but my HDD is already immensely cluttered. Kingston HyperX 3k 120 GB.

Boots up in maybe 8-12 seconds. I am always amazed when I turn on my PC, turn around in my chair to get my phone in the morning, and then turn around again and boom my PC is at the lock screen.

7 minutes???

My main rig booted up in 5 seconds when I first got my ssd, it's down to about 15.

My laptop boots in about 20, and my LAN rig boots in about 30.

Slow ass Pentiums and 1 GB of DDR RAM with 4000-something RPM hard drives that are FULL with 32 bit Windows 7 on them and the most restrictive everything (can't open CMD, regedit, can't download anything, can't change the desktop background....) create a slow ass time....

@Everyone

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!

About 13 seconds from the start of POST.

My other MB Pro with a 1TB PCIe SSD is quite a bit faster.   I have it locked to my desk at work though.  But I have a screenshot of a benchmark I ran on it.

After half a year of use, my rig boots Windows 8.1 Pro x64 in 19 seconds from an SSD. That's from pressing the power button to landing on the desktop, immediately ready to launch any program. Which isn't very fast as I can see.

Currently the HDD is experiencing defragmentation so it shut down slower than it used to

          Well, as simple as the title says. You post the boot times. Here is the recommendation, have you computer set to fast boot. Here is the rule, don't do it after restarting, completely shut down the computer, then use a timer to see how fast it takes to get between pressing the power button, and getting to the login screen.

Linus-45 second His drive: 750 Series PCIe drive.. (I put money that he didn't put on fast boot)

I'll post my speed once I resolve something..
