How fast is your boot time?

SeeingSharp

I wanna see a comparison of everyone's compared to mine :)

Post in this format:

OS:

Type of Hard Drive(s):

Time from powering on computer to the desktop (or Start Screen for Windows 8):

----------------

My results are:

Windows 8

2 SATA 3 SSD's RAID 0

29.5 seconds

--------------

I feel like I should be getting faster boot times, is there something I may be doing wrong?

OS: Windows 7 Pro

Type of Hard Drive(s): 5400rpm 2.5" HDD

Time from powering on computer to the desktop (or Start Screen for Windows 8): About a week :/

In terms of your boot time, that doesn't sound unreasonable, but I'd check your startup programs and processes to check you're not loading any unwanted bloatware etc :)

You were a noob once too!

Windows 8

Sata 3 Intel 330 180gb SSD

~20 seconds

Some motherboards allow you to decrease the POST delay in the bios. You can also turn off the GUI on boot. This can shave a few seconds off your boot times.

To turn off GUI on boot:

1) Press windows key + R

2) type "msconfig" and hit enter

3) Go to the boot tab and check "No GUI boot"

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.

1TB Western Digital Caviar Black HDD @ 7200RPM.

Approximately 20~30 seconds boot time.

I never timed it with a stopwatch though, the boot time's so short I never cared for it.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1

Samsung 840 pro 256GB

Approximately around 5-7 seconds boot time from power button to desktop

I have the MSI-Z77 Mpower motherboard and that helps out a lot

Does RAID 0 have an effect on bootup? Shouldn't be taking this long compared to everyone elses D:

no, Raid 0 should have the fastest boot. Go into your BIOS and make sure you have Fast boot settings enabled in the Boot options. But yeah, an SSD should be booting within like 20 seconds. You may need to make sure your boot drive is first in boot order also.

<10 seconds (with all software installed) on XP

Around 20 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Running a single Agility III SSD on Sata 2.

So I timed it from the POST beep and it came out to 17 seconds. I tried looking in the BIOS for a 'Fast Boot' or something similar, but no luck.

RAID will have a slower boot time from button press to in the OS due to the raid initialization during post. After it's initialized yes, it would be quite fast.

From button press to playing in the OS is about 25 seconds for me.

ASUS cannot run fast boot if over 8 GB of RAM, :( but with 16 GB of RAM once its up I can load much more than a 8 GB system

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Crucial m4 128GB

From pressing the power button to having a usable desktop, roughly 16 seconds.

(early 2011 MBP slightly modified)

(don't flame me for having a Mac)
