Intel Holiday Rebates

Last time around Black Friday the rebates were really lame, at least for US buyers: e.g., a few bucks off prebuilt systems at newegg (other two stores are Canadian), but nothing for CPUs.

Products:

Processors, NUCs, SSDs

1 US dollar = .83 AU dollars

~400 USD for a WF G1 970 with tax

/.83 = 480 AU dollars

Still cheaper than this: http://www.mwave.com.au/product/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-4gb-gaming-video-card-ab57087

$800 is what they are selling for in australia....

After the current transfer rate is calculated in the difference is only AU$35.07. ;)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

What, do you want it for free?

No, but when they've been advertising this "big sale" for 2 weeks and making it seem like a huge event, 50$ off seems a bit lackluster. I mean, 50$ off a 350$ CPU isn't bad, but I was looking at one of the new 10-Core Xeons for my workstation, and its still just 50$ off, which on a 1800$ CPU is almost useless.

Hard to beat Newegg's current $300 for the i7-4790k deal right now, unless you live near a Microcenter. I'd be shocked if any of the rebates topped that.

see my issue is that its newegg.com not ca. and they wont ship to Canada. The one on the Canadian website is 370$. :(

Looks like it was a false alarm.  I am, however, surprised that Linus isn't protecting his reputation and telling us what's (not) going on.
