Should I let my little brother play gta 5?

farhanorakzai

So I bought my 9 year old brother a ps4 on black Friday, turns out that it came with gta 5. I told him that he couldn't play it because he's too young, but he started crying and saying that all his friends play it and he doesn't want to be left out. I don't want to be the bad guy and deprive him of playing with his friends. Should I let him play it? How bad/graphic is the game(haven't played it, waiting for pc version)

But anyway more relevant to the matter. My nephew at the age of 8 has watched some gameplay of GTA V but as soon as i found out i asked him to stop and he did ,he does however ask to watch me play sometimes but i tend to not oblige as i don't think his parents would be too happy. Honestly it depends on how mature he is, if you trust him to play COD and not go around acting as if hes holding an M16 then maybe otherwise no.

He won't see any porn in it.Little kids just roam around city mostly and everytime. No need to worry about it.

I started blood/gore/mass killing games when i was like 10.It all changed me.Changed me to something good. Now i want to kill all the bad guys in the whole world.

I played GTA at that age.

Let him play it under supervision and make sure he doesn't start to swear or go to strip clubs and stuff.

If he is too immature to see why he can't play it, then he shouldn't be allowed to play it. I learnt that way, when I kept begging my cousin when I was that age to play vice city and he gave me that response. When he asks and doesn't start an argument, cry or have a temper tantrum about not being allowed to play it, then he will be mature enough to go on it. Until then, keep it to yourself and have a go on your own. Plus that way you can see why it isn't really suitable for him. Especially with the strip club being quite important in parts.

I wouldn't. My younger cousin (~10) plays it and he's already slipping little cuss words here and there. He didn't even know what Mario was so I fired up the ole wii and introduced him to mario galaxy. Kid can't stop talking about it. I don't mean to critique but you shoulda gotten him a nintendo. Much more family friendly and they love it.

Well, if you don't think he should, then don't let him play. I probably wouldn't let a younger sibling play it. Especially with how influential they can be. Maybe give him an hour or so at a time on the game? I don't know.

I think 9 is too young.. Maybe 12 or 13 would be okay. I wouldnt let him play it.

But he doesn't need to play a game with it when he's 9 years old.

If he cried when you told him "no" that's not exactly a sign of maturity. Honestly 13-14 years old is the cutoff for those kinds of games.

I'm not exactly saying yes or no on this. I do believe that he is too young to play but he probably wont get any of the jokes anyway. I don't believe in the "video games make people shoot up schools" bullshit so I'm not worried about that. If you think that he can take the rated M stuff, then I don't see why not to let him play. It's not like he is going to understand everything.

Oh boy a ps4 for a 9 year old? I think thats a little early, I'd just get them into gaming with a gameboy colour or something like that.

But now he has a ps4 and I dont think that gta is a big problem. It would be best to not have him gaming unsupervised anyways ;)

My cousin and I started playing that game at 11 and 9 respectively. We turned out fine... for the most part.

Then again this was back in the days of San Andreas, Vice City and III, which are all less gory and violent than V

Is there a profanity filter or anything? If you turn those on and are around while he's playing, ya maybe it's not the best for a kid but I don't see it ruining things.

The first video. Game that I ever played was GTA San Andreas when I was 6 and it didn't have an effect on me because I could tell what was real and fake. If your brother can tell that a fictional movie isn't real then he can tell the difference between GTA and reality. Also GTA had more of a positve effect on me. It taught me a lot of things I wouldn't of learned at 6.

I don't believe the "video games make people shoot up schools" stuff either, I just think that it can't be good for a young kid to be exposed to too much of that stuff
