Raspberry pi laptop-netbook project

I've been looking forward to an update on this for a while.

You've made awesome progress, well done making the enclosure yourself. Nice job with fitting it all in, might I ask how the keyboard and touchpad will be connected?

 

For the screen you could use some old laptop friction hinges. They usually have a number of holes in them for mounting and are pretty cheap if you don't have any lying around.

 

Overall looking great, thanks for the update!

The keyboard is a usb keyboard for tablets so it will be connected via usb. The touchpad is from an old laptop. I was able to make it work on a ps/2 port on my desktop. So I bought an active ps/2 to usb adapter from ebay. People on the raspberry pi forums said that these adapters actually work so I hope it works( It hasn't arrived yet). 

As for the old laptop hinges, I found some but they are too bulky. I will see if i can find any old net bokk with small hinges to use.

It's been done, and mass produced as a DIY kit.. Good job on yours though.. Better than I could do with out a cnc or 3d printer... pitop.jpg

Here it is! screen works. battery works. wifi speakers keyboard touchpad everything works.

The Pi is alright, you know, but there are a few boards right around the corner that are more suitable for a project like this. The CHIP and that PINE 64 both actually have LiPo charging circuitry built in, for example. If you're considering swapping boards, or anyone else is thinking about a product like this, that'd be something to consider.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Yup I know more of these boards exist. but the project startes over 1 year ago. Actually when I started working on it, the raspberry pi 2 wasnt even announced. So I kept the raspberry pi name and concept. 

The finished project is awesome. Well done.

I thought about it, but it will be really hard as some of the components cant be removed right now. So I will put some white or silver carbon fiber vinyl over it. Maybe play with the colors a bit too.
