thats a fair point

 

If top gear just reviewed like £1000 second hand cars, nobody would watch, I want to see them drive tanks over Lamborghinis and stuff

 

I cant afford a triple 4k PC, but its fun as hell to watch linus review it, I know what a £50 hard drive does, I know what a £200 graphics card does, but I dont konw what a bluetooth paper plane is like , I had no idea there were smart baby clothes etc

I have been very unimpressed in his content lately. I loved his videos BEFORE he this was a full time job, it seems the latest videos (EX. Baby Monitor, Smart Paper Airplanes, $500+ Earbuds) are all for views. I dont wanna see Linus in the "Suggestions" box in YT if I'm watching a video on a remote control car.

you said your currently 14. i don't want to sound like im using your age against you but i believe you are being naive and thus have naive opinions (this is most likely due to age). For example you are using very simple models to describe how Linus makes money and how the channel operates. you are perfectly find to say you no longer like his video style or content and to stop watching. you posted several reasons for why you have your opinion and we are merely try to give you the other side of the coin so that you can re-evaluate and see if you still hold them.

 

and a stable career is one where the prospects look good. and for linus i would say it is. they are expanding which implies he makes enough profit to reinvest. his view counts are stable or increasing. he does a larger variety of videos to prevent channel "stagnation".

Of course his videos are made for making money. However, you can still see his passion for tech. And there's the word, "tech". It is a tech YouTube channel, which means he is going to review more than just computer hardware. As he always has done, the channel will continue to head out of the PC demographic if Linus finds something that he is truly interested in. I can guarantee you that he doesn't hit as many views on videos like the recent baby monitor video as he does with videos that are focused on PC hardware. 

 
I for one enjoy watching videos about systems I am unable to afford at this moment in time. Why? Because I enjoy the hardware and the technology that goes into such an outstanding rig. Especially the videos on super over kill PC's. Such as the watercooling build guide that they put together month ago. 
 
It seems to be the same age demographic that complains about Linus making videos that go off the usual path of videos that LTT create.

Good for you; age means pretty much nothing. Can't put this any less bluntly at the moment; welcome to the wonderful world of your opinion doesn't mean shit to the internet. If you can't afford it, then don't watch it. If you don't like even the concept of the build, then you probably aren't much of a tech enthusiast in the first place.

WHy the hell do you keep watching his content if you don't like it? No one is forcing you to watch it. And it just happens to be that most of the people really enjoy the content he uploads and it is completely ludacris to think he can just fully change the content of his videos because one person asked him to. That is like asking PewDiePie or another big gaming channel to stop gaming videos just because you want it. This world does not revolve around you. You will learn that hopefully soon.

bro, if you don't like Linus' content, THEN DON"T WATCH!!!!!!!!!! ITS NOT YOUR CHANNEL!! Its one thing to give feedback and suggestions, and another to bash someone because they don't make the type of content that YOU want. That is extremely selfish and downright babyish. there are more people in this world than you, and so far, the most other people seem just fine with they videos that linus makes. if people stop watching his videos, that's his problem. stop complaining and go watch someone else's videos.

I can pretty much +1 the entire original post, but not what OP said after that. It's not Linus' fault and i don't blame him for taking a brighter path to the expense of loosing part of his viewerships interest. He has to feed a lot of people.

 

But if we sit in the corner and +1 everything that comes out of Lord Linus' hands like sheep, nothing will ever change. Who the hell cares about a 48 TB NAS or 128 GB RAM?! This is not even close to reality!

 

Now, I am happy about every video that he puts out for his companys sake but many of them don't interest me lateley. I would want stuff like OP mentioned. Affordable gamer tech.

ACtually these types of videos are some of their most funny ones. Nobody wants to see 100k lamborghinis for the 4th time!

To the OP, I'm not much older than you, 15, but i see the flaw in your logic. Linus provides high quality videos every damn day about something new and interesting. What if he reviewed PC hardware every day?

But that's you. There's a lot of people where a 48TB NAS and 128GB of RAM does effect somebody making a buying decision because not everyone thinks like you. I know how to use the Adobe Suite pretty much in its entirety, I can find great use with a 48TB NAS if I were to have several projects going on. Just because it doesn't effect you doesn't mean it won't effect someone. It exists because there's market.

Do you realize how little money he makes from youtube? He has a wife, two kids, and six employees to pay.

 

Well he makes enough to support a family, employ six people and put money into expensive camera equipment. Don't think Linus is some poor martyr sacrificing himself for the good of all of us. This is a business. Linus is in it to make money. The day Linus stops making a profit is the day we don't get content (or at least full time high quality content). I don't think this is going to happen any time soon though. Linus has done well for himself. He has some reach into a couple of different markets and that makes him valuable for the companies in these markets. This means profit! Makes him dangerous too (i.e.  "Keep on Diggin" seems to be a widely used internet term for Ubi). Hope he doesn't get sued because that mean bye bye profit.

I think it less to do with money and more to do with keeping up a consistent 1 video per day strategy. If you have a problem with that... well what the hell do you expect? There is a limited amount of content so the odd time that mean you get a random video. Linus isn't here to please everybody. He is here to make content. If you like it great; if not, deal with it.

I care

 

With the 128 GB RAM system for example: it would've been interesting to compare that overpowered system to a more rasonable one with a lower chip and maybe just 32 GB of RAM. I know they did turn of RAM partly, but that still seperates it quite a bit from a average viewr's PC.
