SSD Slower Than HDD. Takes long time to boot

xkingalexx

My SSD, kingston ssdnow v300 120gb has become very slow after a motherboard upgrade. the board is a ASRock 990fx and its also showing slower than my seagate 2tb desktop drive.

The drive also takes a long time to boot...

Here are some benchmarks

v300s apparently have bad NAND:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7763/an-update-to-kingston-ssdnow-v300-a-switch-to-slower-micron-nand

i dont like these ssds as they are slow and unreliable. Get an 840 EVO instead. i love mine.

Check to see if your system partition (with the boot manager) is installed on your ssd. If it is on a different drive then you might as we'll be running a dual boot system. I was dealing with something similar just last week.

Its the ssd itself, the kingston ssdnow v300 is one of the worst performing ssds you can buy.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

Make sure that the V300 is a 505A (like mine, i'm lucky to get the old model), if not.... then get another SSD, a crucial MX100

Just a pic of my SSD:

Check your SATA mode and make sure it's AHCI in the BIOS. If it's not you'll be forced to reinstall Windows, tho that might fix the problem.
