You know you're a techie when. . .

lel. The worst is when they say that they are going to buy a macbook air to play dayz on. An underpowered machine that doesn't even have the operating system needed.

Sometimes a thin and light laptop with low specs is just what you need.

People need to start observing them for what they are, not what they could be.

I'm sure as hell not carrying my desktop to class to take notes. I don't have a mac, but for $850 with the student discount, it's a decent value for a thin laptop with good battery life and fantastic build quality.

also parallels is apparently very useful for that

It's actually over two months old but it's all good.

Also, XP is a much better OS in many ways that Vista. It held a 76% share in the OS market in January 2007.

It's an OS way beyond its time, though.

You make people use a guest mouse and keyboard when they go on your computer.

Thank you.

You know your a techie when..

You have seperate harddrives that you switch in and out of your rig for different family members,

you use your school issued macbook to look at the forums during school

you know how to delete the school filters

you know how to reset the admin password on the school macbooks to delete it

your desk looks like a cable nightmare

you are smarter then the supposed school computer guy when it comes to computer

when you find out that the reason why your friend's computer is so slow is because malware from porn sites (yes that was a very disturbing find)

when you think of people using a regular laptop at a desk all the time as a peasant

when you facepalm at people who think building a computer is too hard.

you made a computer repair kit

when you take apart everything technological

You know you're a techie when. . .

you bring your own mechanical keyboard when you help a friend overclock his PC

you wear a usb drive on your wrist with the latest Ubuntu release

I'd like to hear your stories. see if I share any of the experiences.

I guess you could install Windows on it, but it's still impossible to upgrade it, so you're fucked anyway

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

When you have cleanup utilities on the fastest USB 3.0 drive you could find, with a Linux boot drive in it as well. :3

Bringing an external blu-ray player, laptop, batterypack and like a million cables around with you pretty much everywhere you go, you have a collection of mechanical keyboards, you use different VPNs to watch different films/tv shows on Netflix, you can remember every name you called every computer you've ever owned, like for example: Sherlock, Donald and Derek and finally when you talk to your fiancée about anything computer related she says... Lovely darling, I have no idea what you just said. But it sounded smart xD

Oh and having this many posts on a site called LinusTECHTips ;)

You have extra parts to see if the new part you bought is DOA.

You cringe when going to a friend's house because they are going to ask you why their computer is so slow, only for you to spend the next 30 minutes downloading Ccleaner and Malwarebytes.

When you have multiple PCs stored in your closet, many of which are either in temporary storage or parted out (or being parted out.)
When you have a box containing the parts of the very first PC you played a PC game on.

When you get the desire to look up the technical specs of every PC you lay your eyes on.

you know you're a techie when you make the thread "You know you're a techie when. . . "

you are determined to get bronze badges for both BOINC and Folding@Home

when your mother tells you to guess what's in a big box at christmas, you respond with a model number

you have a mural of every size consumer hard drive you can get your hands on. so far 5.25 inch "Bigfoot", 3.5 inch standard desktop, and 2.5 inch notebook drive.

you wrap your devices in vinyl to make them look cool

no matter how much money you have, you can always build a PC that will drive you broke.

and i wouldnt want it any other way ! hahaha

Please quote me or tag me if your trying to talk to me , I might see it through all my other notifications ^_^
