For me the first thing I check is if it has an SSD. I can handle a Pentium processor and integrated graphics but I can't function without 4gb RAM or more and an SSD

you have an ide harddrive on your desk that just appeared and never left (None of your computers use ide any more but you don't want to get rid of it... just in case!)

You have a plethora of cables and adapters for just about any and every situation.

When you have to get files off a computer that is blocked access to C:\ and they can't figure out why the get the error "C:\ is not available. Access denied." So you try the usual, boot in to safe mode with cmd and enable the admin account, reset permissions, that stuff and still nothing. They say "Why is this taking so long?????" so you boot a linux distro off your flash drive that is on your key chain and copy the files buy they say that won't work because linux is a virus. So what do you want me to do? "Get the the other way!" So out comes the crappy laptop running a linux distro, I say it is just a desktop backround and copy the files over the network and give them to the person. "Thanks... What took so long???????" And you know that explaining is hopeless. 

 

My favorite part is "Linux is a virus so the pictures wont work."

When you tell the techs at a computer shop that a computer's cpu only works with 2GB RAM max, and they ignore you and install 4GB-which fails. And also specifying a computer build that is cheaper than their 'ultimate gaming rig', and gets better performance in everything even though it 'wouldn't be able to play crysis 3 on ultra settings'

Same here, especially if its a gamming rig that's more expensive then my own-saw a rig at the shop I bought the parts for my computer, it had an i7 with a 750W PSU and a gtx 650 and 16GB of RAM for $1700, while mine which has an i5 with a 500W PSU, the same drives and addons, 16GB of RAM plus a gtx 650 ti boost only cost me a little over $1000, with windows 7 pro included.
