Which do you guys recommend?

 

Corsair H100i, Corsair H105, Corsair H110, or NZXT Kraken x61?

x61 or 110 :D but tbh those are all great coolers.

CPU Intel I7-4700MQ @2.4 ghz, turbos to 3.4 

Motherboard  whatever toshiba put in the thing

RAM 8GB 1600mhz 

GPU  Nvidia Geforce GT 740M  

Storage 750Gb 5400rpm   

Cooling  Crappy laptop fan 

Operating System  windows 8 64 bit

Stay away from the H100i, it has a bad mounting problem and is not guaranteed to work out of the box without modifications.

 

The other options are all excellent, just make sure they fit.

 

Honorable Mention:  Cooler Master Seidon 240M for $60 (U.S. Only).

Okay, thanks guys. I'll probably choose one of the Corsair options, just for Corsair link.

Can you be more specific about the mounting problem? In all the stuff that I've watched and read, I've seen no mention of a mounting problem, except for your earlier post in yourdad61's topic.

Really common problem with the H100i and H80i.

Basically, not all motherboards are the same thickness, and the mounting mechanism for the H100i and H80i doesn't account for this.  As a result, many users are getting poor contact which results in excessive temperatures. It can be fixed with modification via the "Washer Mod."  The H100i also has a very noisy pump, and buggy software(Corsair Link).  If you do end up going with a Corsair AIO, don't both plugging in and installing Corsair Link, just control everything through your motherboard fan headers and save yourself the headache.

 

If you live in the U.S., take a long hard look at the Cooler Master Seidon 240M.  It has the same specs as the H100i, minus the mounting problem, noisy pump and buggy software.  Performs the same and comes in at a fraction of the cost.

I'll take a look at the Seidon, however I live in Australia. And btw, I was planning on going with the ASUS ROG Maximus VII Formula as a board, so I don't think that I should have any problems, should I?

Ahh, nm about the Seidon then.  I only mention it to those who live in the US because of its amazing price to performance.

 

That board is likely overkill, unless you absolutely need specific features, you can go with a less expensive motherboard.

 

People report problems with all motherboards, there is no consensus which motherboards work and which don't.  Stick with the H105, H110, X61 and you won't run into any mounting problems, just make sure your case has room.  It is specifically the H100i and H80i that seem to be the most problematic.  Not for everyone, but enough that it needs to be mentioned.
