Time to retire my 2500k?

Nakoron
Go to solution Solved by Wtalk2,

The 2500K is still a powerful CPU, especially at 4.6GHz. Unless you really need the extra CPU power then I think that the 2500K will be fine for now until at least until the next series of Intel CPU's comes out.

I'll keep this short:

Should I replace my 2500k for gaming use?

Will I see a Difference in games?

Is my AMD 290 being held back at this point?

*** note

It's OC'ed to 4.6ghz

The 2500K is a pretty solid CPU.

The 290 "bottleneck"
It depends on what game and on what settings you play at.

In pretty much all games im bottlenecked by my CPU with the graphics "pre-sets"
But if i push more AA and textures and pull down the shadows the load is balanced.

Unbalanced Load = Bottleneck
Balanced Load = No Bottleneck

My Gaming PC

|| CPU: Intel i5 4690@4.3Ghz || GPU: Dual ASUS gtx 1080 Strix. || RAM: 16gb (4x4gb) Kingston HyperX Genesis 1600Mhz. || Motherboard: MSI Z97S Krait edition. || OS: Win10 Pro

You won't see as much of a difference as you think you would with Haswell :)

Won't be worth it, wait for whatever AMD push out and have a rethink then, as prices will change.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses
